Jordan James may yet miss another Leicester City match after injury kept him from featuring in the 2-2 draw with Preston.

City’s top scorer James picked up a problem on Wales duty but manager Gary Rowett said it was not as bad as first feared, and that the midfielder could even play a part in the Good Friday fixture.

However, James did not make the bench at the King Power Stadium, and Monday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday may come too soon as well. The 21-year-old tried to train on Thursday, but was unable to show that he’s ready.

Aaron Ramsey’s comeback was also delayed. After illness stopped him from making a first appearance of 2026 in the 0-0 draw at Watford before the international break, the attacking midfielder suffered a slight issue in training this week to rule him out of the Preston fixture.

“He (James) tried it yesterday (Thursday) and it wasn’t quite right, so that was a disappointment for us,” Rowett said. “We’ll see where he is for Monday, it might be too quick of a turnaround.

“Aaron Ramsey felt something yesterday, obviously we’ve got to be cautious with him. I hoped he would be available for the bench.

“You look at that type of game, you’ve got Aaron Ramsey and Jordan James on as two 8s late on, you probably go and score another goal with the quality they’ve got.

“Bobby (De Cordova-Reid) was excellent when he came on and he didn’t even train yesterday, he landed yesterday afternoon.

“We’ll see where we are for Monday, the potential (of them returning) probably won’t be any different Monday.”

City did have one player returning from injury though, with Jannik Vestergaard making his first appearance since January, the big Dane coming on as an emergency striker late on.

Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic was also in the squad for the first time since February. He had been Rowett’s first-choice goalkeeper initially, but only returned to the bench on Friday, with Jakub Stolarczyk kept in.
