Me and my bro called him Michael Jordan, a bit of an exaggeration but there was no denying his impact in clutch situations 😤

3-1 Jota

Apart from one Europa League game, we didn’t lose a single game ever when Jota scored.

Milner had a similar, pretty crazy statistic spanning his career right?

Fist time in the Kop when he equalised for 2-2 against Fulham last season. A day I’ll never forget.

I miss him as well, and no denying that he was an amazing player. But that stat is not as crazy as people make it out to be.
First of all, we lost very few games during the late Klopp era when Jota was here. We lost even fewer games in which we scored. It’s not like we were losing every other game and Jota was saving us. I’m also assuming that a lot of other players have similar statistics because of this, if they play for a dominant team.
Second, it’s not up to the player who scores to see the game through, it’s up to the whole team, so this is more like luck, if anything. It’s a stat which he happens to fit. It could’ve been anyone else, tbh.

Early in Jota’s first season when he was coming off the bench a lot he spoke about he watches the game from the sidelines anticipating how he can unlock the game when he was subbed on. Always loved his description of ‘unlocking’ the game, he was fantastic at scoring that first goal to break a deadlock. We could really do with him right around now. RIP.
