Alasdair Gold 🥇:

Tottenham had briefly considered the possibility of bringing back Postecoglou as a temporary option until the end of the season.

Alongside that:

The coach they tried to tempt into leaving his position and joining Tottenham was Marco Silva, Fulham’s manager. However, this proved difficult because Premier League rules don’t easily allow such moves mid-season.

In the end, they settled on appointing De Zerbi, did everything they could to secure him — and they succeeded.

Probably been harped a million types and is pipe dream but would’ve much rather had an interim even if it’s an expensive one then get back potch

  2. Given Postecoglu has 1 league win from his last 20 league games managed, presume this consideration was brief indeed.

De Zerbi’s quality as a manager will put a lot of commenters to shame.

  3. Frank, Silva, Ange, De Zerbi. The first two and last two are wildly different. Does not look like people who know what they are doing.

Why would Ange return to the club that fired him not even a full year ago, especially on an interim basis. To even briefly consider that to be a feasible option is beyond insane.

Not Ange that’s for sure. He’d have gone all in for the UCL and we would be last in the table. I don’t know who we need but I don’t think the club know either. What I do know is the club needs to find a potential buyer and stop disrespecting the fans

  6. I just don’t see how RDZ is going to last here long term given his average tenure is about the same we get out of managers, with a board notorious for being difficult.

I am confident he keeps us up, I’m also confident we’re going to be back here again in a year or so. I don’t care if he’s been told about this level of control he’s going to have, we’ve got nearly 20 years of evidence to suggest he’ll get backed initially then the board will falter. Combined with Vinai’s own words on finances, this is going to end in tears eventually. Just hopefully PL ones.

I’d much rather have had either of Ange or Poch back long term, neither would join now, unfortunately the board made the decision an absolute nightmare either way. Nobody wants a poisoned chalice of an interim gig with this many problems, and we couldn’t afford to wait until the season finishes.

I mean I knew Lange’s statement that De Zerbi was their number one summer target was bullshit, this just confirms it

  8. Thank fucking god we avoided that. Though that doing this absolute joke move was even considered is a grim indictment of anyone making decisions at this club

  9. Wow went from almost having Ange back to having a man who was brought to tears telling the media how great a person Greenwood is

  10. There are not serious people running this club. Both alternatives would have been a disaster.

I’m also skeptical about this since it’s been reported the club have been all in on RDZ for years. Why wasn’t he the first choice?

It feels like there are different factions in the management structure that want completely different things. Would guess it’s Vinai and Lange that wanted Silva and the board may have been split between Ange and RDZ over the Greenwood comments.
