  1. Ooohhhhh! Running into space, forward one touch football! Was that a thing??

  2. There were plenty of poor performances under Klopp and more than one bad season.

  3. ….”playing football is very simple, but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is”

  4. Using probably our best team goal in the entire Klopp era to make a general point about how we used to be is a little disingenuous

That’s incredibly fluent complicated football. Nothing simple there at all. Just a group of athletes at their peak in total harmony.

Running into space, Free movements, Salah in the box to use free space as Firmino and Mane were open, midfielders filling spaces, all working well. This was Klopp second year by the way.

  7. Probably some of the greatest football many of us will have seen in their lifetime

Imagine being an opposition player and having that happen to you. In thirteen seconds the ball goes from the goalkeeper though six players and in to the goal.

  9. Teams never leave this kind of space in behind though. Obviously we were much better, but I could find many clips from our best seasons under Klopp of us looking uninspired trying to break down a low block.

Unfortunately, we suck against all kinds of setups now. But this kind of simple play isn’t really possible in most PL games.

Yeah, that goal was a masterpiece of complex, high-speed football. It’s a weird example to use for “simple.

This was when we have a fast and an electric left winger. The current one doesn’t really identifies as “electric”.

That’s what good chemistry gets you. Amd we will see if not same, even better football from the new lads in no time.

  13. We had bad moments under Klopp as well, but the general idea was better. Slot wants to let the ball do the running (lots of safe passing) and tries to bait the opposition press, but the league has moved on from that. Teams aren’t so vulnerable to De Zerbi and Slotball possession tactics anymore.

The longer we take to adapt to other strategies, the worse it’ll be. We’re too slow, can’t press, and leave too many gaps in our side. Even Wolves took the fight to us (and actually won once). We couldn’t even beat Tudor.

  14. Without the personnel it doesn’t mean anything. Gakpo couldn’t even lace Mane’s or Bobby’s boots.

We are talking about one of the best english sides ever to kick a ball, this is like saying why doesnt brazil play like they used to with cafu R9 and other legends anymore
