Denzel Dumfries’ £21.5m (€25m) release clause at Inter Milan could be the key for Michael Carrick’s future plans for Manchester United involving Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo.
Michael Carrick’s reign is only expected to last until the end of the season, but there is no doubt he is now a potential candidate for the Manchester United manager role.
If the 44-year-old United legend were preparing ahead for the future at Old Trafford, then the right-winger role could be one key area he would want to explore further.
Enter Netherlands and Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries, who is capable of playing as a right-back, right wing-back or right winger amid being one possible solution.

Amad Diallo has not been performing at his absolute best under Michael Carrick on the right wing since Ruben Amorim was sacked as Manchester United manager.
Carrick has also been using Bryan Mbeumo on the right wing and has even alternated him with in-form striker Benjamin Sesko as the lone forward as well.
When Mbeumo is alternating Benjamin Sesko for the striker role and the duties on the right wing fall to Amad, then Carrick is limited for another option in his squad.
Denzel Dumfries has a release clause that activated in his contract last June, but the major catch was that it would only last two weeks before it deactivated.
According to L’Interista, the 29-year-old Dutchman is still on his same Inter Milan deal and the release clause should become active again in the summer window.
The outlet claims that United and Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City are ‘all looking for a player’ who has ‘characteristics’ similar to Dumfries.

Dumfries is capable of being a viable winger option – similar to defender Patrick Dorgu – due to his superb attacking ability down the right flank of the pitch.
However, the Netherlands international could easily function as a right-back under Carrick’s Man Utd tactics if Mbeumo and Amad could alternate during a match.
United have been limited on the right-back position and Dumfries would no doubt pose a real challenge to Diogo Dalot for the full-back spot in the starting XI.
When it comes to his £21.5m price tag – thanks to his Inter release clause – Dumfries’ price looks a drop in the ocean in the modern-day transfer market.
Considering the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked with Dumfries, it feels like such an easy option for Man Utd to explore this summer.
