In February, BCP Council approved the council tax requirements for the 2026/27 financial year following approval from the government to increase the amount by 6.74 per cent increase.
Council tax is used to support the services a local authority provides from adult health and social care to waste collections and parking.

Part of this tax is put toward the police and crime commissioner, fire service and, as of this year, all residents across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole will pay a portion towards town or parish councils.
Properties are valuated into different bands to determine how much council tax is paid to authorities.
