A student nurse has been named Student Ambassador of the Year.
Mary Bichard, who studies MNurs Adult and Child Nursing at the University of Southampton, was recognised by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) as part of its 2026 awards programme.
Ellen McNicholas, RCN south east regional director, said: “My heartfelt congratulations to Mary on receiving this award.

“Colleagues who nominated her said that Mary is one of the reasons that the South East has a strong student voice as she encourages others to get involved in the RCN.
“At university she has consistently held a role on the nursing society committee and has welcomed new students into the society.”
Ms Bichard said she was “very grateful and surprised” by the recognition from the RCN.
She said: “Most of all, I want to say thank you to all the RCN staff and members who have supported me in the work I have engaged in.”
