Officers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said their Southampton West team had been tackling crime while supporting the local community in recent weeks.

Work included preparing court evidence linked to seven shoplifting incidents involving a prolific offender currently in custody.

Police Community Support Officers also hosted a bike marking and registration event at Mansel Park, aimed at preventing theft and helping recover stolen bikes.

Elsewhere, officers carried out foot patrols along Shirley High Street, where they also responded to reports of a man suspected of shoplifting.

During the day, officers also assisted ambulance crews to ensure a member of the public received appropriate medical care.

The force said the update reflects ongoing efforts to address crime, provide reassurance, and support partner agencies across Southampton communities.
