Norwich City FC will host Ipswich Town FC at Carrow Road on Saturday, April 11, with a 12.30pm kick-off.

The match is expected to draw a sell-out crowd.

Police say the operation is designed to focus on public safety, prevent crime and disorder, minimise disruption and help people travel to and from the stadium.

Officers will be deployed in and around Carrow Road, the surrounding area, and the city centre.

Specialist resources, such as drones and police horses, will also be used.

Chief Superintendent Wes Hornigold, of Norfolk Police, who is overseeing the operation, said: “This is a great derby between two local clubs and although we understand the rivalry, we also know most fans just want to get behind their team on the pitch and enjoy this special day.

“Our primary responsibility is to keep people safe.

“This year, the travel restrictions have required us to be flexible with our policing plans and we have been working closely with both football clubs and partner agencies to identify the most practical and proportionate options to support everyone.

“These conversations will continue to ensure that all supporters can enjoy the match.”

Football supporters, residents, and people travelling to Norwich for any other purpose that day are being reminded to plan their travel in advance as the city is expected to be very busy.

Supporters should plan to arrive at the stadium earlier than normal to ease congestion when entering ahead of the kick-off at 12.30pm.

Ipswich Town supporters will be able to collect tickets from one of four designated collection points.

Police may implement temporary road closures before and after the match to ensure safe pedestrian movement.

The usual road closures will also be in place around Carrow Road before and after the match.

Away supporters will be asked to use Lower Clarence Road to reach the stadium before taking their seats in the South Stand.
