Robinson, 19, has missed the last two months of action with a quad injury that took longer to heal than he expected.

The Saints academy graduate is now back in full training and could return to the squad for Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal.

“It was good to train at St Mary’s in front of the fans. I’ve had a little quad injury that took a bit longer than I expected to recover from,” he told the Daily Echo.

“I was back in training last week and obviously today. It’s good to be back. It was tough to be out, but the boys did really well, winning a lot of games.

“I spoke with Tonda [Eckert] quite a lot while I was injured. He checked in on me to see how I was. At first, I went back to training three weeks after the injury.

“But I could still feel it, so I stayed out for a couple more weeks because the medical staff wanted me to be fully recovered for the end of the season.”

Robinson admitted he has endured “ups and downs” during this first full season as a senior player, with his recent injury being the toughest part.

The teenager, who earned his first Saints start against Arsenal in the Premier League, had lost his starting spot before sustaining an injury.

Leo Scienza’s arrival on the left wing has been tough to look past, but it was Robinson who kick-started the revival under Eckert with his goal at QPR.

With seven league games to go this season, Robinson wants to make his mark by recapturing the form he showcased in the first weeks of the season.

“Arsenal are one of the best teams in the world at the moment, so it will be a really good test for us. Hopefully, we are going to win,” he said.

“This season has had its ups and downs. I’ve had some good moments and some not-so-good moments, especially with the injury.

“Hopefully, I can get back to good form, and we can push in the play-offs. The club helped with those ups and downs.

“I’ve been here since the very start. The staff all around the club, in the academy, all help as they are people I can speak to.

“I’m happy with where we are. I want to play as well as possible to help the team push towards the play-offs.

“Then we will see what happens at the end of the season. We are playing for something now, which is always good.”
