Fordingbridge Museum, located in the old granary building, will begin welcoming the public again on Tuesday, March 31 after its winter closure and will open with several new enthralling displays.
Among the highlights is a technology display titled Yesterdays Future, which features cameras, phones, calculators and other once-cutting-edge electronic devices.
Claire Booth, curator at Fordingbridge Museum, said: “Whilst the Museum was closed for the winter the collections team has been very busy researching and putting together exciting new displays.
“Some of these are related to the history of Fordingbridge and the surrounding area and others look at advances in technical equipment and familiar play things.
“We hope that visitors, whether local or from further afield, will enjoy a nostalgia trip or perhaps be fascinated by the speed of developments and changes to how we live.”
The museum, which is run by volunteers, explores the rich history of the town and its surrounding areas.
Visitors can also explore the history and development of the Sandy Balls Camp site and a selection of artefacts and photographs documenting the evolution of Fordingbridge’s fire service, supplied by the local fire station.
A display of dolls ranges from simple peg figures to china dolls, as well as Barbies, Kens and Action Men.
Entry is free, though the museum relies on donations to remain open.
Fordingbridge Museum is open Monday to Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
It features a wide range of displays including a large Victorian furnished dolls house and early bicycles.
