[Alasdair Gold] Feeling within Spurs is they’re closing in on their man in Roberto De Zerbi. His football matches how club want to play. Question marks over how quickly he can implement it & reaction to his Greenwood comments. Track record doesn’t scream long term but Spurs rarely do long term.

  1. The 5 year contract is solely just to ensure a payout in case he wants to leave because it’s the only leverage we can give to sign him now.

Really begs the question as to why we’re, supposedly, offering a 5 year deal. Wonder if that’s his way of bargaining to come in now as opposed to the summer

“Question marks over how quickly he can implement it”

Well no worries there then. Not like we’re pressed for time or anything

Fine with me. He plays good football and has had success in the Prem. Also had success at Marseille. Could be much much worse. This is a much better option than Redknapp or Sherwood or any of those geezers.

I get the moral issues, but staying in the Prem is the only concern right now.

Lol. That sounds like it’s Ali saying he doesn’t want him either.

What a circus we have become.

  6. This is fucking clown show. A Five year deal for an absolute mid teir manager. Fans don’t want him, he’s not a survival specialist, kicks Poch back down the road and the guy is a rape apologist.

What has happened to this club. Tear it up and start again. If he’s the manager, I’m going to struggle to give a shit and that’s the first time I’ve felt this way in 35 years

I’d rather be relegated than support a rape apologiser. The board don’t look incompetent anymore, they look like they are deliberately sabotaging the club.

The fact of the matter is you cannot condemn Arteta for his support for Partey through it all and then ignore De Zerbi supported Greenwood.

That alone is a red line for me. Without even taking into account a 5 year lucrative contract for a guy who usually blows up in 18 months is crazy. When we went down this road with Conte it was on the trade-off “he wins trophies”. De Zerbi doesn’t have that clout.

  9. 5 year deal screens desperation, they must believe he is the strongest immediate candidate who would take the job… Relegation clause/ staying in prem bonus likely included for him to accept. Still rather Dyche to the end of the season and look at poch back in the long run.

If Ali G is saying there are question marks over his Greenwood comments, that means they’re wobbling.

If you care about this, be REALLY FUCKING LOUD in the next few hours. Send emails, phone in, blow up the club socials, get in touch with whoever’s running your fan group if you’re a part of one and they’ve not said anything yet.

Ignore all the controversy, this appointment has divided the fanbase even more then before, which isn’t a good idea for the remaining 7 games

Just get Maresca in. Decent Prem manager, proven track record in Championship. Works either way.

That should be the number 1 thing we should not have questions about.

Also giving this guy a 5 year contract when he has not managed any club for more than 3 years is straight up stupid. I saw somewhere he would be one of the highest paid managers, so that means this guy could end up relegatiing us, throw a tantrum (would be expected as he has done that previously) and leave with a shit ton of money 6 months later.

This board keeps letting us down

  14. The man that stood by Partey at Arsenal is the same man spearheading this hiring process at Spurs. If Vinai’s lack of morality wasn’t clear before, it certainly is now.
