Aston Villa are reportedly weighing up a move for talented Belgian youngster Nunzio Engwanda this summer.

Engwanda, 18, has already broken into the first team of Anderlecht and made two appearances in the Belgian Pro League last season, plus an outing in the Europa League.

He made his debut for Anderlecht’s second string, which plays in Belgium’s second tier, at 15 to become the youngest player in the history of Belgian football and he was rewarded with a first professional contract shortly afterwards.

Engwanda initially signed a three-year contract until 2026 but Anderlecht swiftly extended it by a further 12 months, meaning the defender has another year to run on his deal.

Alan Nixon reports Villa’s interest in Engwanda and says the teenager could be ‘available for a bargain fee’ this summer.

Engwanda is primarily a centre-back who, according to Anderlecht’s website, displays composure on the ball which allows him to step into midfield from time to time.

Engwanda has already represented Belgium up to under-19 level and has played regularly in the Challenger Pro League this term for RSCA Futures, who sit 15th in the table.

His brother, Alonzo, is also a professional footballer and now plays for Dutch side FC Utrecht having come through the same pathway at Anderlecht.
