Tottenham are facing a race to install their third manager of the season within the next 72 hours. Igor Tudor left his role after a disastrous 44 days in charge which has left the club just one point above the relegation zone and in serious danger of going down.
Former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is keen on the job. The Italian had been reluctant to take over until the summer but Spurs have tried to persuade him to come in now.
Mauricio Pochettino would welcome a return but the ex-Spurs boss cannot leave his job with the United States until after the World Cup. That has left Tottenham looking at the possibility of another interim appointment but that will not be former Nottingham Forest and Everton boss Sean Dyche who has made it clear he is not interested in a short term fix.
They have also looked at Austrian Adi Hutter – whose last job was with Monaco – but may also go for a more familiar caretaker boss in the hope Premier League experience will keep them up.
Harry Redknapp, 79, has publicly stated he would go back while the likes of Ryan Mason, Tim Sherwood and Glenn Hoddle are available.

Veteran Spurs defender Ben Davies is believed to be under consideration if they go for a short term fix. Earlier in the season, they are believed to have considered turning to club legend Ledley King.
Tottenham want to make a quick appointment so the new manager has at least ten days to prepare for their next Premier League game at Sunderland on April 12.
Another member of the existing coaching staff, Bruno Saltor, will take training for the remaining players not on international duty until the new manager takes up the reigns.
Tudor lost his last game in charge against Nottingham Forest but immediately afterwards the club announced that his father had died away and now a week on they confirmed the ex-Juventus boss had left mutual consent.

The club said: “We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for Head Coach Igor Tudor to leave the Club with immediate effect. Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their respective roles of Goalkeeping Coach and Physical Coach.
“We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly. We also acknowledge the bereavement that Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.”
The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust said in a statement: “With thanks to Igor and his team for their efforts, and wishing him and his family time to come to terms with their loss.
“In a season of bad calls, let’s hope we now see a wise choice for the remainder of the campaign. Someone who understands the club and is up to the task in front of them: retaining our Premier League status. Someone we can all be proud of and who can bring some much needed success and enjoyment to our long suffering fanbase.”
Pochettino would be a hugely popular choice with the fans and originally the club wanted to wait until the summer but they cannot risk the financial catastrophe of relegation.
