Rodri has made some… interesting comments on international duty, which potentially bring into question his Manchester City future, and links him strongly to Real Madrid.

In The Debrief, I provide immediate reaction, opinions and insight into the biggest topics from the world of football.

  1. We should buy a decent young Rb to push Nunes, Anderson, Wharton. McAidoo into senior squad to add depth for wingers Sell Rodri, Rico, Stones, Ake, Savio and Marmoush. That’s about £250 mil in sales. Easy.

  2. First Enzo, now Rodri. I'm just enjoying seeing all these players twerk for my club 😂
On a serious note Perez ain't spending a single cent on any midfielder other than prolly Nico Paz buy back clause lmao

  3. Hes always answer the Madrid question the same. He says its a great honor and you give madrid the respect to listen. He doesnt owe us anything and won everything for us. If he wants to return home he deserves it.

  4. I feel betrayed tbh. We cherished him, supported him throughout the year and half injury, obviously the ballon dor. And as soon as he gets up the pace he wants to leave? He is potential captain after Bernie too. I get that he has been at City for 7 years already and will turn 30 this year, but player his calibre and quality in that position can easily play another 7 years (depends on the fitness ofc). I just feel that he could give us more maybe like a cheeky 2 year extension and then go. I cant lose Bernardiki and Mr.Ballondor in one window. Viana needs to sort this one out!

  5. Stop with the in-possession bullshit

Rodri's style no longer thrives in today's gameplay
We're just using him because of his experience, name and fugazi

Get Anderson; both Anderson and Nico can play a lone pivot with Reijnders, Foden, Cherki, or any other midfielders

Enough with this side to side switches that does fuck all

  6. Not a city fan , isn't this like the perfect time to move him on? He's starting to come down of his peak, you should get a decent fee for an aging CDM, seems sensible?

  7. Rodri is Spanish, not English. He gave us many years and maybe his best years and won us plenty. He got injured and had a frustrating comeback. Maybe he wants to go back to his country where it is warmer as Manchester is cold vs Spain. Even Bernardo wished City was in South of Europe.
I dont have any issues with his comments. RM is more elite than us but he gave us his best and it is almost that time for us to move on.

  8. We are selfish fans yet dont want for him to do same.He won us plenty, got injured while playing for us, and has maybe 3 good years left. Id run out my contract and go back home on a free.

  9. 9 players earn more than Rodri in the Man City squad. Nine! He has one more year left on his contract. He is a club great, but the club has flogged him to death and has not rewarded him accordingly. Why is there no anger that they have not treated Rodri with the respect that he deserves?

  10. With his contract being up for negotiation do you think he did this to impose a threat of leaving to maybe inflate what city might offer him to extend his contract. I don’t think he’s that kind of person but people change.

  11. And don’t understand pepp not doing nothing player’s give fuck if that was Sir Alex Ferguson the shoes in the head just ask David backhand ✌️

  12. Before Rodri, we had Fernandinho, a fantastic defensive midfielder, who won us the league with 100 points, I think City will survive without Rodri. If he wants to leave, let him leave. Yes, we can't replace him, but City couldn't replace Toure, KDB, David Silva, Aguero, Kompany or Walker, but went on to win something without them.

  13. He can go any were he want but saying these thgs its not gud..he shd b sold immediatly..how can he praise RM those who disregard and shamed him ..such fickg Asshole…i lost the respect!

  14. We don't want him keep him😂 his twerking for Real Madrid Nah we good we want vitinha, Stiller, szeboslai ,Smit ,Wharton and chema coming back from Stuttgart only one will come, rodri is old and the disrespect towards Vini the restaurant and banner thing we will never forgive him.

  15. At end of the day its his wish. ye we can understand that some of our senior players except bernie lost motivation to win another title with city as they have won everything with the club (i may be wrong) so its good for us to move on if he really wants too and give the key to nico and now we can go all in for Tonali or elliot anderson to replace him bernie and rodri. our major problem should is not rodri its phil foden. we need to focus on him and how we are going to set him inside this team. i have a massive respect for foden even hardly seen he pitch for past 2 months he never complained or do any leaving gimmick with his agent . so i need foden to stay more than rodri

  16. Rodri has given us a lot. A lot of memories. He have cried with us when we won treble. It doesn’t matter if madrid is in his heart, but i am sure he gave 100% of himself when he played for city. I can live with good memories.
I would want him to stay but I think we should let him go with respect if wants to leave.
