I went to enjoy a night at the Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly for a brief break to do just that.

Situated just around the corner from Piccadilly train station, the hotel is easy to get to and well placed in the city centre to explore all that Manchester has to offer.

When we arrived, check-in was efficient and we were in our room before we knew it.

We were lucky enough to stay in an executive king room, which had a seating area and a great view of the city skyline.

There was no need to worry about duvet hogging for the night, as the bed was absolutely ginormous.

It was the evening by the time we arrived at the hotel, so we soon made our way out for some food.

Thankfully, Freight Island was only a short walk away and had plenty of food and drink to try.

The vibrant restaurant offers a range of vendors, including pies, pasta and desserts.

We opted for some slices of pizza from Nell’s, and halloumi gyros and halloumi bites from Mega Gyros which were served quickly and tasted delicious.

After a couple drinks at Freight Island, we made our way back to the hotel for another round at the bar, which already had plenty of other guests sat relaxing.

For those wanting to head to the spa, the hotel has it covered with six treatment rooms, a thermal suite, sauna and steam room.

There is also a fully equipped fitness suite for those who don’t want to skip leg day.

When it was time to head to bed, I realised I’d made the mistake so many of us do when we head for a night away – I’d left my toothbrush at home.

But this wasn’t an issue, as the helpful staff in reception quickly popped into their storage cupboard and supplied one for me, which came equipped with a small tube of toothpaste.

I had an excellent nights sleep, with no risk of being disturbed by my partner hogging the bed, and woke up feeling refreshed and ready for the day.

One thing can truly make or break a hotel, however, and that’s its breakfast spread.

But, again, the hotel had every part of it covered – with all the trimmings of a full English, pastries with meats and cheeses and yoghurts and fruit.

When we went back upstairs to pack up our things and head down to check out, we did so with full stomachs.

With plenty of fuel to sustain us, we quickly checked out of the hotel before making our way into the city to explore and then make our way back home.

If you’re looking for a night away, then this hotel could just be the place to go.

Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly is the official VIP Hotel Partner for the 2026 MOBO awards, so it’s the perfect base for those looking to explore the city’s music and cultural landscape.
