Southampton City Council has granted a permit for planned works on Bassett Avenue, with a lane closure in place from April 7 to April 8.
The works are set to begin shortly and will affect traffic flow along the key route, which connects the M27 with the city centre.
Motorists are being advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys, particularly during peak travel periods.

This comes after another bout of road works on the busy Bassett Avenue recently finished which saw large queues and delays during the rush-hour.
Bassett Avenue is a major route into Southampton, and even minor restrictions can lead to congestion, especially during weekday rush hours.
The works are expected to be completed within two days and drivers are advised to plan ahead.
