Thanks for getting us to the World Cup Clarke. Don’t you dare fucking sign another contract!

  2. RunningOutOfToes on

5000% IQ play from Steve. We might play them in the World Cup so may as well make them think you’re shite.

  3. BananaSoprano on

Two losses and a draw v Haiti, followed by the Fartin Army dusting off the old “just happy we were there” patter.

  4. Pure_Breadfruit8219 on

I can’t stand Liam McLeods voice at all, it makes me want to jump out the window.

It’s my TV license money, get him out!

  5. buckfast1994 on

Don’t think I can stomach a World Cup with Liam McLeod on commentary. Wee freak can’t go more than five minutes without shoehorning in a reference to Celtic.

  6. Playful-Listen6011 on

Learned nothing, usual players were shite as per and none of the subs showed anything. Steve Clarke masterclass

  7. Who would have thought that relying on your players scoring worldies was not a long term sustainable tactic for success.

That was dreadful. Stadium was too apathetic to even boo or clap at the full-time whistle.

  8. If we start Gunn at the WC we’re going to get 0 points and -12 goal difference, genuinely a fucking awful goalkeeper

  9. WeaknessNo9103 on

I’m glad I didn’t pay to watch that tbh but booing a friendly when we’ve made the world cup is mad.

  10. Not winning a friendly at Hampden in over a decade is a mental stat for a team that’s been to the Euros twice and qualified for a World Cup within that same decade

  11. ScottishSeahawk on

Forgot how much I hate friendlies. For all the crap the nations league gets at least the games mean *something*.

  12. Clarke and Scotland are like a loveless marriage that should have divorced years ago, but there have been some okay moments that make you think it could work out, but at the end of the day it always reverts back to shite

  13. A good striker would be nice, feels like we’re just a team of midfielders without a decent defence or attack

  14. Looking at how japan play compared to us is like getting the same qualifications as your mate, leaving to start your career and 5 years later you’re working minimum wage while the other is earning 6 figures.

We can do so much better lads but we’re stuck with osama bin clarken

  15. Fancy_Flight_1983 on

    1. Adidas have fucking smashed it with the national shirts this year.
    2. Thank fuck for the Nations’ League, friendlies are pish and don’t even have academic value if you’re not gonnae use them to blood new players.
    3. CLARKE OUT.

  16. MengaPlayerManager on

Exactly how I expected that game to go it’s just the same old pish isn’t it

  17. That was fuckin awful. Hopefully we have 5 games left of the Clarke era. Aye he got us to the world cup and Euros but I’m just so bored of the turgid football.

  18. LocationNew4180 on

Honestly, I’m so sick of Clarke. Qualifying is the minimum, yes it’s great we have qualified, but Clarke clearly lacks the skill and importantly the ambition to get us beyond the first round.
He’s basically still calling up the 2021 squad which failed and he still thinks it’s acceptable

  19. SirTrevorMcDonald on

    One word review – pish.

Also, I took a small jacket as it was nice out when I left. It’s cold now and I am freezing in Glasgow – Clarke must answer for this!

  20. I pray Steve Clarke and Anthony Ralston lose their passports and some legend at the passport shop “delay” their new ones.

  21. Plus_Buyer43 on

Crappy post match comments aw Japan are a good side top 20 it’s ok to lose against teams like that
    Pish

  22. Alternative_Plant997 on

Saw nothing from Conway or Hirst there to suggest that either of them should have been in that squad ahead of Barney Stewart.

  23. Classic blooter ball. Scotland not checking if there’s a man available to pass to, or getting into position to be passed to. Just stop the ball and thump it up the park to the other teams possession

At lead the Japanese team were enjoyable to watch.

  24. I get that Clarke has helped us qualify for 3/4 competitions but I believe that with the players in the squad, there’s surely people who could he more out of this group.

He just doesn’t want to change his style and player choices which means that we end up having to hope that individual acts from players on the counter are enough to win games.

I’m grateful for what he’s done with Scotland but I think we have better chances in the future by exploring other managerial choices

  25. MajorDisillusionment on

    Happy Clappers in Shambles tonight.

I know it was a friendly, I know Japan is a decent side these days and it’s not 20 years ago.

They turned up in their slippers and we just turned up.

This is what I’m afraid of in the big leagues. I cba with us just showing up again. We should be competing much more with squad we have.

  26. Why are folk acting like we’ve been beat 5-0 off San Marino? Wasn’t the best performance, wasn’t the worst performance. Japan look like a fairly decent side. Also it’s a friendly.

  27. We did nothing after McTominay hit the post on 8 minutes.

Not really arsed as it’s a friendly but seemed a bit of pointless going through the motions.

I know he was a sub but Billy Gilmour is not the mythical Rolls Royce people want him to be. He’s shite, gives the ball away all the time and I don’t recall him having any goals or assists.

Hendry and McKenna won’t be the starting central defensive pairing at the World Cup, so I’m not too bothered how they did.

Gunn needs to save that goal, that was pish. Not that bothered though.

I don’t buy into all the negativity though. Nothing game, no Shankland and Clarke didn’t pick Hearts or Motherwell players who could end up making the actual squad.

Must take issue with commentary though “there’s a clamour to bring back Ollie McBurnie” – NO LIAM, THERE FUCKING ISN’T. NOBODY WANTS TO SEE THAT USELESS JOBBY OF A PLAYER COME BACK ROUND THE U-BEND.

Otherwise I’m pretty chilled about things.

I wasn’t listening to that BBC football daily podcast the other day and the Japanese football expert mentioned how Japan has only had a professional football league since 1992

They first qualified for the world cup in 1998

Since then they’ve qualified for 6 WC on the bounce and they’re aiming for at the least quarter finals

Meanwhile, we’ve still never got out the group stage at an international tournament

    You can see why

  29. Hot-Road-4516 on

It’s just really really boring isn’t it. Not a chance we get through this World Cup group

  30. If we genuinely go to thw WC and put in the absolute horror show performances of the past euros, having learned zero lessons, I’m gonna be fuming

  31. First world cup in 28yrs and still folk greeting for Clarke to leave.
I dread to think how guff we’re gonna be when Clarke does leave.

  32. Buddie_15775 on

I’ve so missed the insane negativity about Clarke and the SNT…. much like I’ve missed Olli McBurnie.

The game? Looked meh but genuinely what do you expect from a friendly against a team that’s been in the knockout stages of the World Cup four times.
