Bosses at Curve Theatre are working hard to reopen a city centre car park “as soon as possible”.
The NCP Leicester Rutland Centre car park, in Halford Street, will cease operations from 11.59pm tonight (March 27).
This car park is just one of four which will close as NCP’s Abbey Street, East Street, and Lee Circle locations will also be no more.
The move will see 33 employees made redundant after the firm collapsed into administration earlier this month.
Chief executive Chris Stafford and artistic director Nikolai Foster have issued a joint statement addressing the “frustrating” news.
They said: “We’re extremely disappointed the NCP car park next to Curve will be closing this evening.
“We know how important it is to many of our audiences and we understand this news may be frustrating.
“We are doing everything we can to explore options and ways we can work towards reopening the car park as soon as possible.
“In the meantime, while we know this change won’t be easy, there are around 10,000 parking spaces available across the city, and we’d really appreciate your patience as we navigate this situation.
“We also recognise this will be particularly concerning for our customers with access requirements.”

It was added that discussions are currently being held with Leicester City Council in a bid to find a solution.
They added: “We are in ongoing discussions with Leicester City Council to find the best possible solutions and ensure visiting Curve remains accessible to everyone.
“Finally, our thoughts are with the NCP staff affected by this closure.
“As always, thank you very much for your continued support and bearing with us – we’ll keep you updated as things develop.”
A fifth NCP car park, in Hinckley’s Britannia Shopping Centre, will also close at midnight tonight.
