The moped was taken from Newtown Road, Eastleigh sometime between 8pm on Monday, March 23 and 8.30am on Tuesday, March 24.
Officers from the Neighbourhood Enforcement Team and Roads Policing Unit spotted a moped matching the description of the stolen vehicle while on patrol on Leigh Road, less than two hours after the theft was reported.
They located and detained the rider, arresting the teenager on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
He has since been released on conditional police bail, pending further enquiries, as the investigation continues.
The moped, confirmed as the one reported stolen, has been returned to the owner.
Eastleigh Police shared bodycam footage of the arrest on their Facebook account.
They captioned the video: “These days, lots of things are labelled a must-watch, but you really must watch this.”
