SOMETIMES it just has to be a joke, doesn’t it? Not even Nigel Farage can have a neck that brassy, can he?

Those were the questions the Jouker was left pondering after seeing the Reform UK leader’s latest ill-fated attack on SNP leader John Swinney – which is almost too hypocritical to believe. Almost.

It came after the First Minister met with Scotland’s national men’s football team, who will be heading to the World Cup later this year after qualifying for the first time since 1998 – and in emphatic style.

On Wednesday evening, Swinney shared a pic of himself with some of the team’s leading lights, writing: “Great to meet up with Steve Clarke, Andy Robertson and John McGinn and the @ScotlandNT to congratulate them on qualifying for the World Cup and to wish them every success.

“They have done Scotland so proud.”

The post came in for the kind of ribbing you might expect, with one user responding: “That’s us getting beat in every game noo that u just jinxed us.”

But it was Farage’s attack which drew more than a few raised eyebrows.

“Keep politics out of football,” the Reform UK leader wrote.

Remember, this criticism is coming from the same man who not even 24 hours prior had sparked a row after using Ipswich Town FC for a photo shoot.

“I’ve never been too bad on the right wing,” Farage had written, alongside shots of himself parading around the team’s stadium holding football shirts with his own name on and pretending to sign contracts.

Reform is also the party who have produced football kits in the party’s branding, and last week applauded and Farage posed on stage alongside a supporter wearing one – points which did not go unnoticed by the disbelieving public.

“This not your party punting Reform UK football shirts?” Scots signer Iona Fyfe responded.

“Keep your beak oot of Scotland!” another user responded.

The National contributor Gerry Hassan wrote: “Nigel Farage: constant attention-seeker, shameless grifter, and complete hypocrite.”

A fourth person asked: “Is he taking the piss?? Or is his head so far up his own arse he can’t see the hypocrisy of this statement?”

Those questions just about sum up Farage’s entire contribution to UK politics.
