Just like with Enzo I believe the club must always place ‘sporting interests’ over everything else.
They must at the very least, have a conversation with a player, that would improve the team, if they become available.
Then comes everything else.
Having said that… I don’t believe Rodri is the same player as he was before his ACL & I don’t believe he actually would improve the team relative to his cost.
Enzo on the other hand…? If Enzo throws his toys out & he becomes available for sub-80mil? We should have a conversation.
A lot of Madridista’s don’t want this movie because of the ballon dor robbery, which although of course he himself didn’t rob, his reaction and antics after winning didn’t help.
However, if we even forget that whole scenario, I just think it makes no sense to pay a decent size transfer fee and big wages for a guy who’s turning 30.
Is he the profile we need? Yes. Just go back to the city second leg and look at his position, passing, and press – it’s the best in the world. But he’s been injury prone over the last two seasons, and at his age that isn’t a good sign.
Playing for Athletico isnt a deal breaker. I mean i still remember when Courtois played for them and RM fans hated him. The hate was mostly just because he was so good but I still remember that time lol

– I like Rodri Play Style.

– 29 or 30 years old he’s NOT OLD.
Most footballers get a lot more experience and better read of the game when aging.
– 5 years at the club or 4 would help with midfield defenders.

Aside the ballon d’or fiasco he still isn’t worth it
Guy is nearly 31 with an acl tear and is more injury prone now. Maybe 2-3 years ago he would be the perfect guy in the midfield but now? Never we should look for better options.
