On Monday, cast members from Rock & Roll Man performed a pop-up concert at Dolphin Poole, presenting hits like Great Balls of Fire and Yakety Yak, along with original pieces from the musical.

The show kicked off yesterday, Tuesday, March 24, at Lighthouse Poole and will last until Saturday, March 28.

The musical delves into the life of Alan Freed, the 1950s disc jockey credited with naming rock & roll.

Rock & Roll Man, which follows its off-Broadway run in the US, marks the first time it has been performed in the UK.

Stars include Constantine Maroulis as Alan Freed and Dominique Scott as Jerry Lee Lewis.

Other cast members feature Jairus McClanahan as Little Richard, Joey James as Chuck Berry, Marquie Hairston as Frankie Lymon, Cherece Richards as LaVern Baker, Joe Bence as Buddy Holly, and Mark Pearce as J. Edgar Hoover.

The musical highlights Freed’s significant impact on music history, fostering unity among artists and audiences across racial divides.

Performances run at 7.45pm, with additional matinees on Wednesday and Saturday.
