Madeira Medical centre located on Madeira Road in Poole has historically been used as a medical centre and then as a childcare facility serving the local community.
However, the property has been vacant for more than two years and is no longer providing childcare services within the area.
The proposed development does not result in the immediate loss of an operational community facility.
Oraco Properties Ltd submitted a prior approval application the change the use of the building from commercial to residential.
Floor plans submitted as part of the application show that the 12 flats will be spread across two floors, seven will be located on the ground floor and the remaining five will be on the first floor. A total of seven two-bedroom flats, four one-bedroom flats, and one studio will be created from the development.
The plans are currently in public consultation until April 15 under planning application number P/26/01061/PNCBD.
A decision on the plans is expected to be made by officers after consultation finishes.
