The trees, which are in the gardens along Bourne valley, are part of a wider project that began in 2019 and is the gift of 10,000 cherry trees, with plantings in the whole of the UK.
Starting in London’s Hyde Park, the project is part of a longstanding friendship between the UK and Japan.

Friends of Coy Pond secured four trees in a larger batch of trees and they were successfully planted the very next day in a suitable spot, in the meadow by the Bourne stream, near to the pond itself.
These saplings started as little more than sticks but have already blossomed.
The trees blossomed in mid-March, just a month after arriving, and have been placed in a suitable spot, in the meadow by the Bourne stream, near to the pond itself.
According to Japanese culture, the brief but stunning eruption of the cherry blossoms, or ‘Sakura’, is a highly valued event celebrated with Hanami festivals.
The garden’s quartet of trees have sprung into an unexpected bloom.
Arrangements are being made for a formal welcome for these cherry trees.
