I’d really prefer Maatsen to Digne but other than that it’s a much stronger line up than we’ve been seeing recently. As good as West Ham have been recently I really fancy us here

Glad Barkley and Pau are starting, didn’t think Luiz had his best game in the week. Thought Watkins provided more than Tammy did too when he came on.
Incredibly confused as to why he persists with Digne. I’m not even sure he’s better defensively than Maatsen anymore, and provides much less going forward.

This is probably the last game we can afford to stumble through doing just about enough. We’ve just got to win.
After the international break, with Tielemans and McGinn properly back, we have to recover our 2025 level of performance. If 2026 levels continue we will finish outside the top 5 and will not win the Europa League.
Much as I hope the youth can break through, it’s nice to see a full senior bench

Feel for Lindelof probably our best performing Centre-back this season when he plays.
Surprised Watkins starts he honestly looked better off the bench even if it was against a side that was stretched looking for 2 goals.
Barkley for Dougie doesn’t surprise me. Dougie and Onana clearly wanted to take up the same space and it was stifling the midfield.
I didn’t think Maatsen played particularly well on Thursday if I’m honest, but I’m going to be shaky on Digne all season after his senior moment at Bournemouth.
Tielemans back, but I honestly hope if he plays it’s at most a 10 minute cameo just to get him some match sharpness.

Happy with that for the most part. Really pleased to see Youri back on the team sheet.
I’m on the fence about who should start between Watkins and Tammy atp. Their back line is pretty solid lately and I don’t know if Tammy offers the same qualities as Ollie in breaking that down. But at the same time, Tammy could stretch the defense and tire them out and Ollie might be better suited to finishing the game out.
