Fabrizio Romano: The message I have from Chelsea is there’s no imminent change on Liam Rosenior, and they still support him. This isn’t a squad built for him, so there are some points to remember when it’s time to judge him. They want to be in CL next season.

the vote of confidence – maybe they are going to remove him and pay him the 6 year contract for 3 months of work lmfao

  2. I’m sorry what ???

The squad isn’t built for him? Is this not the whole point of these sporting directors ???

    Fuck me

  3. >This isn’t a squad built for him

Hasn’t that been the case for all the managers under Clearlake? The SDs buy the players and the manager has to then work with whatever he has been given?

  4. You also need points to get into the champion league next season.

What’s it’s going to take? A humiliating defeat against challengers Man Utd and Liverpool to realise the players just aren’t playing for him?

  5. FoxCreepy6219 on

We’re gonna waste another season under a completely inept manager, worse news possible.

And when we do inevitably sack him the next manager will either be worse or be forced to clean up the mess left by him, I hate this ownership so much, we wouldn’t be in this mess if we just hired Enrique and let him build the squad 3 years ago

  6. MysteriousActuary194 on

What’s the point of building a squad around a manger when we’ve never done that before? To get spanked 3-0 by Everton is completely unnacceptable.

  7. Are we allowed to sue the club for stress and emotional damage? I’m so tired of this bullshit managerial cycle with ZERO accountability from the ownership that they’ve destroyed this club from the inside out.

  8. The squad wasn’t built for our previous managers either. Directors are absolutely useless

Bunch of kids and ‘opportunity signings’ that leave us more or less treading water every season

  9. foreveralone119 on

Yknow I agree, so remove the damn fucking sporting directors first, then choose a manager

  10. They can’t fire him, he’s their guy. Rosenior has literally been groomed to become our long term manager by the board the way he got to get involved in BlueCo by managing Strasbourg.

He should have knowledge of exactly what these directors want and the type of players they have signed.

Firing him now would basically be admitting their whole strategy has been wrong, something they won’t do until the situation is completely untenable. They have no plan B!

  11. I thought the whole point of hiring him was that it wouldn’t be that much of a “culture shift” and that he was “adaptable”?

  12. This was clearly a squad built for Maresca, which is exactly why the club said no to his request of signing a CB and experienced players and signed a bunch of players he didn’t rate like Hato, Gittens and Joao Felix. Bunch of clowns.

  13. EstevaoWillian on

They specifically refused Maresca’s player requests but now suddenly they’re tailoring squads to the managers? Lol

  14. The squad isn’t built for him

But the manager should work with what the sporting directors give them (which was apparently a sticking point for our previous two managers)

So what even is the plan then??

  15. We’re so doomed.

Just terrible decisions after terrible decisions, squads not build for him, why sign him then?

  16. Strange_Chemistry_95 on

Squad isn’t built for anyone, it’s a group of players thrown together based on a spreadsheet and age profile

The fact that his job is safe and they want UCL football are two things that simply do not align

  17. KindheartednessDry40 on

The question should be “When will this morons be judged on the squad they built on?”. Crazy there incompetence has been allowed for so many years. I guess as long they are yes man like chuckle brothers are to egghead, their job will be safe. It would be ridiculous if they sack rosenior. No good manager in his right mind will come close to us.

  18. kingbradley1297 on

What the fuck? Did they not say they want to build a squad that doesnt depend on the manager. If you wanted to build a squad for a manager, why not fucking do that for Maresca?

  19. Why didn’t they give him a Goalkeeper suited for his system? We had one in the books. Why didn’t they have the forethought

  20. We know how this board functions, they give out massive contracts and sack as soon as it becomes problematic, and it’s becoming problematic.

Lose to City and he’s in danger, lose to United after that as well and he’s gone. Similarly, don’t make CL and he’s gone, and, well, we currently look more likely to finish 8-10th than we do 4th or 5th.

  21. TheRedPillMonk on

The squad isn’t built for him?

The SDs have had full control since day 1, they only want someone who plays the way they want.

    What a load of bull.

  22. Frequent-Position on

Lol. There’s no link between the manager and the results. Also we aren’t getting results because the squad isn’t built for the manager.

    Which is it?

  23. Alternative_Court262 on

That is a direct contradiction of what weve heard about the coach being hired to work with the squad at hand, not have a squad built for them. So someone is lying.

  24. Admirable_Ad_1390 on

But his a head coach, why would a squad be built for a head coach, also the high turnover of players is too much we can’t even build anything cause after a season we already moving 6-7 players and signing a similar number, I have never seen a team built like that.

  25. WizberryHoleington on

‘This squad isn’t built for him’

Whilst refusing to build squads for the previous 2 managers and firing them when they questioned it

  26. tacobellwether on

We’re 4 years into this abomination. 4 fucking years. That’s an eternity in football. The fact they’ve made ZERO progress from where we were when they took over is bad enough.

But to gaslight us and tell us to be patient? That they have a plan? That they want to succeed? What a fucking slap in the face.

Give me, or literally ANYBODY else in this sub 4 years and 2 billion to spend and I guarantee we’d be in better shape than where we are with this clown show. Ineptitude off the fucking charts and THEY’RE the ones with generational wealth.

  27. >this isn’t a squad built for him

He’s literally been groomed for the role by managing the B team.

    PR FC

  28. Absolutely shite show from top to bottom clowns the lot of them. We are so screwed for the next 5 years. There is zero chance we win anything in the next decade with these idiots in charge

  29. This is clearly just a press brief from the management. Maybe even just pure speculation on Fabrizios part.
We know this Chelsea squad wasn’t built for anyone particular . It’s just a collection of players who fit age/wage/stats structure.
Also why would Rosenoir be worthy getting his own squad ? What has he shown to get such backing ?
We say this after every game but surely he is on borrowed time . Only SDs might be hesitant because he was their guy.

  30. “They want to be in the CL next season”

No shit Sherlock. In what world does a hedge fund not want a situation that guarantees more return on investment (i.e. more income)?

  31. EstevaosJesusPiece on

This squad won top 4 and is world champions but it’s not built for him. No wonder Maresca left these ragebaiting SDs

  32. Imagine after 363 managers the club sacked in last 20 years, this guy will be the one to get full backing for next 5 years. Sad. Everyone and I mean everyone would get sacked after the shitshow of the past week. No one survives that. The results, the morale, the players not caring…

  33. Some very frustrating comments there.

‘This isn’t a squad built for him’ – it clearly wasn’t built for Maresca either. So the question remains, who the fuck was it built for?

‘They want to be in the CL next season’, yet ‘they still support [Rosenior]’. These points kind of contradict one another, no? Because currently he’s taking us out of the champions league spots. If that’s a key outcome for them. Then they’d be sacking the manager right now, and bringing in someone with the quality to achieve that.

  34. GianfrancoZoey on

No one should be expecting anything else, Liam wasn’t appointed because they think he’s a good manager, he was appointed because he’s a company man and is willing to do as they say.

It’s simple as that, so long as he keeps his head down they won’t sack him unless results are catastrophically bad (which tbf could end up being the case)

  35. When asked about firing managers: There is no actual correlation of manager to team being good.

When asked about shit results: team hasn’t been built for this manager, wait till we built it, then manager will have impact.

When manager asks for CB to build his team: shut up, you have no say. the team won’t be built for one manager, it has independent identity.

When asked, so when the team will be built, we have spent nearly 2 billion: it a long term process takes time.

When asked its been 4 year and we are struggling to make CL: You are impatient, you don’t know data, we think longterm not shortterm, we don’t panic.

When asked how come there has been milutiple managers fired if you have so much patience: there is no corelation between a manager and team/player doing good.

Rinse, repeat, and their bootlickers eats it all up.

  36. mountain-man-86 on

Are they serious?! If the squad wasn’t built for Rosenior, why did they hire him mid season? More importantly, who was this squad actually built for? They hung Enzo Maresca out to dry because they refused to buy the specific players his system needed, and now they are using the exact same excuse to protect Rosenior. It’s an infinite loop of executive incompetence.

We need the banners out. We need the chants directed squarely at Winstanley, Stewart, and the recruitment team. If we just accept this “transition period” PR nonsense, they will never be held accountable for destroying the spine of this club.
