I know theres a lot of decent sources but he just doesnt fit the INEOS mould, mainly his age.

Would’ve been the perfect signing 4 years ago. You could tell he was going to become an elite midfielder when he was at Lyon. Still don’t understand why we did not consider him as a transfer option under Ole when we were desperate for midfielders

I just don’t believe this. Good player, but Wilcox has been pretty clear about the age range.
Have to think this is agent driven.

From the article, Bruno G is the primary target. Available for €70m.
Tonali, Anderson and Christos are also on the list
If there is one thing ive learnt about transfer rumours, it’s to never listen to reddit or whatever rubbish Fabrizio posts.

Ticks a lot of boxes ability wise and in terms of experience but his age profile is wrong. United are still 2-3 year off contending, at which point he’ll be past his prime. If we’re going to be spending that money, it should be on someone 4-5 years younger.

One of Bruno G/Tonali (Barcodes aren’t selling) with one of Anderson/Wharton, plus a young one like Moutzakis alongside Kobbie would be a pretty stable four to work with. We still have the Fletcher twins and Collyer to come back into the fray too (all this assuming Ugarte goes as well).

in two years we’ll have to manage his minutes, in 4 years we’ll have to rebuild the midfield. This doesn’t make sense unless we get Anderson or something.

I see a lot of focus on his age and not fitting INEOS’s history. I’d be very happy with them spending more on the right player for now and the needs of the team for the next couple of years. Look at Chelsea and their focus on youth and increasing values.
You wanna build a squad to compete and develop together. Experience is vital. He’s a class midfielder and a leader that can improve and help develop the other players.

This would only make sense if all the top 20-25 year old targets were impossible to get.
Just break the bank on Anderson, why give up and let him go to City?

Tonali from NCFC for me. I like their faux-Bruno, but he’s not one for me.

if United do buy him, INEOS needs to make sure they do not overpay and use potentially the fact that Newcastle will not get European football as bargaining power to get an better deal and be on the fleecing end for once in a transfer.
Quality player, prem proven just a shame about his age.

A lot of people getting hung up on the age gap when the pool of players that fit that while also being relatively proven is few and far between, doubt we can even name more than 5 that are attainable while 1/2/3 would be just as complicated with other teams also looking at them.
Doesn’t have to be Bruno but I would rather spend well then buy a dud prospect who the club will then refuse to replace until 2/3 years later.

Call me crazy. Enrique asked for Guimarães and we’re working on getting his players in already.

(Do not pay attention to the fact I have no idea if Bruno G is the profile of midfielder Enrique would want in his team, or even the fact that Enrique himself is probably thinking about whatever next 5-star Parisian restaurant he’s gonna take the PSG players to after they smack the scum around within a month’s time, or the fact that it’s all too late for this transfer talk and I’m delusional and sleep deprived, but really – in my head -, it all makes sense… We’re winning the Prem next year, lads.)

I know everyone is talking about his age, but I’m thinking INEOS is looking at a win-now mentality.
Cunha, Mbeumo are in their prime, Bruno is 32 this year. If there was ever a time to win, it should be now.

I’d prefer Tonali

The more players were linked with, the more noise in the market, the better.
Can’t pay the United tax because everyone knows we’re targeting one player all window anymore.

Would love it if we managed to pull this off. If it’s not Anderson then he’s the next best thing. His age is not a concern for me. Replacing Casemiro with another experienced midfielder is a good thing.
The price has to make sense. €80m is fine. Soon as we start talking about one hundred of the king’s finest, walk away.

Bruno G, Elliott Anderson and one of James Garner, Gomez or Alex Scott.
