After falling to a 1-0 defeat in their last home match against West Ham, Marco Silva’s hosts earned a 0-0 draw away at Nottingham Forest last Sunday.

That stalemate, combined with results elsewhere, will see the capital club start the weekend in 11th place.

Back at Craven Cottage on Saturday, Fulham will be quietly confident about returning to winning ways when Burnley come to town.

The Clarets have long looked doomed to the drop, but they are showing that they won’t go down without a fight.

That was clear last weekend when Scott Parker’s side held Bournemouth to a 0-0 draw at home, though they remain nine points adrift of safety.

How the bookies view it: Three points for Fulham

The bookmakers fully expect Fulham to pick up all three points on Saturday afternoon, with a home success priced as short as 4/7 on bet365.

Burnley are as big as 21/4 on bet365 to come away from Craven Cottage victorious, while a share of the spoils is an unfancied 29/10 with the same firm.

Head to head: History against the hosts

Burnley hold the upper hand in this fixture, with 49 wins to Fulham’s 32, alongside 21 draws. This season, however, Fulham triumphed 3-2 in the reverse fixture, with the same scoreline on Saturday currently priced at a whopping 28/1 on bet365.

Players to watch: Wilson worth a look

With an impressive return of nine goals and six assists across his 28 Premier League appearances this season, Fulham’s Harry Wilson offers value to register another goal involvement on Saturday, priced at 10/11 on bet365.

Hannibal Mejbri picked up his seventh yellow card of the Premier League season against Bournemouth last time out, and the tough-tackling Burnley midfielder looks an appealing option to be cautioned again here at 2/1 on bet365.

Predicted line-ups

Other than Brazilian winger Kevin, who remains a long-term absentee, Fulham appear to be carrying a clean bill of health heading into this clash.

Burnley, by contrast, are burdened with a lengthy injury list that includes Axel Tuanzebe, Connor Roberts, Jordan Beyer, Josh Cullen, Mike Tresor, and Zeki Amdouni.

Fulham: Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Berge, Iwobi; Wilson, King, Bobb; Jimenez

Burnley: Dubravka; Humphreys, Laurent, Esteve; Walker, Ugochukwu, Hannibal, Hartman; Anthony, Foster; Flemming

MFT’s X-pert tip: Fulham win & over 1.5 goals

Fulham vs Burnley points towards a home win with over 1.5 goals based on a clear gap in attacking output and overall process.

Fulham carry stronger underlying numbers at Craven Cottage, averaging 1.24 NPxG while conceding 1.36. Burnley struggle badly on the road, producing just 0.74 NPxG and conceding 1.87, one of the weakest defensive records. That imbalance creates a strong base for Fulham to control chances.

Recent data strengthens the angle. Across the last four Fulham generated 1.34 xG and allowed only 0.64 xGA, returning 7.58 xPTS. Burnley posted 0.84 xG and a high 2.31 xGA with only 1.67 xPTS. Over eight matches Fulham sit at 12.21 xPTS compared to Burnley’s 4.62.

Chance volume also favours the hosts, with Fulham producing more SIB and limiting opposition looks. With Burnley conceding both volume and quality, Fulham should create enough to win, with two goals in the game a low bar.

Anything else catch the eye?

Backing both teams to score looks well worthy of support at 10/11 on bet365.

There have been goals at both ends in seven of Fulham’s last nine top-flight fixtures at Craven Cottage.

As for Burnley, 11 of their 15 Premier League away games this season have seen both teams hit the back of the net.
