The matchup between Harry Kane and Antonio Rüdiger has evolved into one of the most physical "striker vs. defender" rivalries in modern football, spanning the Premier League, the Champions League, and major international tournaments.

During their time in London, Rüdiger was often deployed as the "Kane-stopper." While Kane is the Premier League's second-highest all-time scorer, Rüdiger’s Chelsea had a remarkably high success rate in neutralizing him.

* Kane Goals: 1 goal (November 24, 2018).

* Result: Kane found it notoriously difficult to score against Rüdiger in the Premier League, going scoreless in 6 of their 7 head-to-head encounters. Rüdiger’s Chelsea won the majority of these matches (including four consecutive wins between 2019 and 2022).

* Appearances: 2 matches.

* Kane Output: 1 goal (penalty in the 1st leg) and 1 assist (2nd leg).

* The Outcome: Although Kane managed to contribute to two goals across the tie, Rüdiger’s Real Madrid ultimately triumphed 4–3 on aggregate. Rüdiger was widely praised for his "dark arts" and physical man-marking that limited Kane’s impact from open play in the decisive second leg at the Bernabéu.

    I know rudiger is hot headed and doesn’t think properly but man he is a rolls Royce defender in big games. With chelsea and then again with us he had the best season as a defender.

    The thing is Kane isn’t a Haaland that stays stagnant hugging the backline. Kane causes all sorts of problems.
