[Premier League Match Centre] BOUMUN – 78’

The referee’s call of penalty and red card for Maguire for the denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity (DOGSO) was checked and confirmed by VAR – with it deemed to be a holding offence with no attempt to challenge for the ball.

It’s the right decision by the way. The issue is, how is Truffert not making the same holding offence with two hands on Amad and making no attempt for the ball.

  2. Fine decision, what’s not fine is making this decision and not making the same one against the foul on Amad…

  3. Absolute shocking series of decisions and now we lose Maguire for 3 games for the run-in. Fucking hell how an incompetent ref could very possibly derail our season.

Edit – Thank fuck it’s only for one game.

there’s more force when i pet my hamster than what Harry did to Evanilson. are we getting a justification for the one on Amad too?

Rage bait post from PL themselves.

How come we rarely hear about referee fails from UCL/other leagues on r/soccer or other places whereas in the PL every week there’s a horrendous call that goes far beyond benefit of the doubt

    I’m fine with this.

It’s the incinsistency and impact of it that stinks.

and this challenge on amad, what’s the rationale there for not giving a fucking penalty ??????

  8. It’s a clear pen, but there was also a ‘holding offence’ on Amad. The only difference is that Truffert’s weaker than Maguire.

  9. Looking forward to Dermot squirming on Ref Watch trying to justify this shit. “You put me in a difficult position” incoming

Both are pens. No idea how they can justify Amads not being. Contact in the box. No real attempt to play the ball.

  11. Put the pgmol out to pasture. That wasn’t a holding offence. It was a push. If you can’t tell the difference, you shouldn’t be in the job

  12. I won’t argue Maguire’s wasn’t a foul. Definitely not a red but not calling Amado’s foul is fucking disgusting and corrupt. How does this stop in the league?

I can accept this, but simply cannot accept that Amad challenge. No play on the ball whatsoever, gutless by the ref who didnt want to award a second penalty. Scandalous really.

  14. It wasn’t even a holding offence. Maguire briefly touched him, he wasn’t grabbing and holding. Morons

  15. What annoys me the most, and this is going to go against the grain here is that I dont entirely blame Attwell for this. I say ENTIRELY mind.

Its VAR. Be honest and tell Attwell that the foul on Diallo could be a penalty, but we see you’ve given the defender the benefit of the doubt there, its a physical game after all, but then when it came to the Maguire, tell Attwell the same ‘It’s pretty much the same as the Daillo one, if not less so, I recommend giving the benefit of the doubt for this one too, lets be consistent here’

  16. In a vacuum I have no issue with this call. When you combine it with the Amad (no)call, it just makes no sense at all. It’s exactly why everyone is losing faith in the refereeing.
