Hi everyone,

I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but I feel I have to share my experience to hopefully stop someone else going through the same thing.

I’m a lifelong Liverpool fan and this was going to be my first ever trip to Anfield. It meant a lot to me, especially with everything going on in my life. Over the past few years, I’ve had serious health issues including a heart attack and ongoing heart rhythm problems, and I’m currently dealing with another serious health concern. Because of all that, I’m not able to work and life has been tough.

Getting to Anfield has always been a dream of mine, and I finally thought I had the chance to make it happen for the Liverpool vs Brentford match. I bought tickets through a Facebook group thinking it was genuine.

Unfortunately, it turned out to be a scam.

I paid for the tickets, and then was told there were extra fees to “change the name” on them. Being my first time and not knowing how the system works, I trusted what I was being told. I ended up sending more money, only to realise later that:

  • The tickets were not real
  • The process they described does not exist
  • And I was being taken advantage of

It’s not just about the money — it’s the disappointment. I genuinely thought I was finally going to experience Anfield for the first time.

I’m sharing this because I don’t want anyone else, especially other fans who might be in a vulnerable situation like myself, to fall into the same trap.

Please be careful:

  • Only use official Liverpool channels
  • Don’t trust Facebook sellers asking for bank transfer
  • There is no “name change fee” for tickets
  • If it’s not in your official Liverpool account or wallet, it’s not real

I’m not posting this for sympathy, just to raise awareness and hopefully prevent someone else from being caught out.

If anyone has any advice on safe ways to get tickets, or if there’s any chance of still getting to a match the proper way, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks for reading, and take care everyone.

YNWA ❤️

  1. can’t stress enough how much you should listen to OP, this is not rare. the only time I’ve ever gotten tickets unofficially was as a gift, and we based an entire trip around it, and it was absolutely nerve wracking not knowing if tickets were real until we got to the ground. luckily ours were real, not going to name or endorse where they were purchased from because it’s still had scams in the past. absolutely never worth that stress.

I don’t wanna be rude but this seems like a skill issue. I would like to think/hope 99% of people wouldn’t fall for this.

  3. Sorry OP to hear about your ordeal and be brave to share this here . Take it as life lessons for all of us and move on with life . I am sure you will get a chance to go anfield in future
