If this photo doesn't make you smile and appreciate how much we've grown since it was just the City of Manchester Stadium, I don't know what to say to you.

If you didn't follow as Georgios Samaras scored 2 at home on New Year's Day 2007 against Everton before we didn't score at home again until the following season, you don't know what it's like to go through a rough patch.

If you didn't feel absolutely ecstatic that we'd bought back Shaun Wright-Phillips for £8m, I can't begin to explain the excitement.

If you've never seen Andy Morrison be a big old brute of a defender, David James give you a heart attack whenever the ball is at his feet, Steve McManaman do absolutely nothing of note, Paul Dickov give 100% every game, or Kiki Musampa come back for a cheeky second loan spell due to having absolutely no money to buy anyone else, well… I feel for you.

I get feeling frustrated with how things are at the moment. If you're a relatively new fan, maybe you've only known success.

This is part of being a fan of this wonderful football club. If you start acting entitled, well… You become just like those red fellows just over the way.

Never forget how far we've come. 💙

We went from a relegation club to a world class club in Europe. Something for which we should be really proud of. No matter either we win the treable or don’t win any major trophy for decades. I will always be a cityzen ✊💙

I know it’s a bit of fluff when players say it, but the “I’ve dreamt of playing for the club” will never not seem surreal to me.

  3. Beautiful post. Well yes, many including myself have known nothing but success, maybe a few years down the line we will appreciate even more what our club has done over the last 15 years. Humble beginnings to a juggernaut.
But on the flipside, being here and now, we shouldn’t fall off like the red counterparts or inconsistent london clubs. The club should be demanding and hungry, but we as fans, no matter how frustrating it gets at times, should never turn on the manager and the players, they are also humans trying to give their best, sometimes it just doesn’t happen.
We should represent class in wins and losses both, which we actually do better than most fan bases I believe. Fans’ personality is also a part of the club we should represent our club with class.
