Boring. I don’t want to play Man City and Arsenal in the fucking champions league until I absolutely have to. This would be an awful idea.

I think that making a free draw would not be fair. There should be protection to ensure clubs from the same countries can’t be drawn for smaller countries. I think only England and Spain should be allowed tonhave meetings in league phase. A good rule is any association with 5 or more clubs from same country loses the same country protection

but people say pl is shit and arsenal would be worst champions, so why are they complaining playing such a bad team?

They should all play against each other if that’s what the draw decides. Rivalry is never a bad thing on the pitch.

just go back to group stages ffs.. this new format sucks and makes games boring to watch until knockout stages.

Idea doesn’t hold any weight when PSG wins it back to back from outside the top 8 anyway

Look, unless there are going to be knock-out games from the start, it’s going to be as expected until the last-16 anyway, no matter what format you go with.

Just go back to it being the winners of every European league. None of this finishing 4th and becoming champions of Europe crap

Boo freaking hoo.
When the Premier League first had 5 teams qualify, they lost the team that finished fourth. When Spain first had 5 teams qualify, UEFA changed the rules so that all 5 could participate.
When Spain was dominant, nobody was saying that RM, Sevilla, Atletico, and Barca should be able to face each other in the group stages. Why is the situation different now that the Premier League is in the ascendancy?

Players need more of a rest, if you’re in Europe, drop the league cup, also maybe spread the league out a few more weeks so there’s not a period of 3 games in 10 days for several months.

I would be good if it was opened up but no more than 1 game. Would not like it to be 2 or 3 vs teams in the same league. Would also be fine if the 9-24 was protected vs playing each other.

Unpopular opinion, but I intensely dislike the fact that the 5th best team in the PL often gets an easier route to the Champions League than the champions of Poland/Romania.
Careless_Layer_8282 on
The timing of these games weren’t good for Chelsea, Spurs and Newcastle as all of them are struggling within PL as well. I see it only as a coincidence and nothing more. Plus all of Bayern, PSG, Barca, Madrid and Atletico have massive revenue and transfer budget close to the top premier league teams.

What’s the rethink, at least one free penalty each game for Spanish teams?
Anonymous-Josh on
I think if you are going to change it then limit it so you can only play a maximum of 1 domestic team. Otherwise don’t change it
dennis3282 on
I don’t think it will make that much difference, but sure, go for it.
A fair, open draw is the right thing to do, even if it results in a few same-country matches in the group stage.

The money the top teams make from the champions league just distorts their local leagues EPL included.
It only exists to give UEFA officials opportunities to skim off the top.

It could be so many factors but ultimately just bad timing, when most the Italian teams got bombed early people just moved on with their lives

Teams are set to fail.
Newcastle in 10th have played 22 games since the beginning of the year while Barca have played 20.
Chelsea without playoffs have also played 20 games while psg 17.
Squad size is limitations don’t help planning for multiple tournaments. And most importantly, the league doesn’t care. PSG get their game postponed for a ucl second leg they were 5-2 ahead in, while crystal palace had to play about 4 games in 6 days last December.

Wait a minute I’m confused. I swear I just read about how badly English teams have performed in the champions league and how their league isn’t as strong as previously claimed because the got knocked out by plucky minnows like Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Now you’re telling me English teams are too strong after all and that adjustments to the tournament structure are needed to keep them in check and halt their domination of the competition?
BazingaQQ on
What dominance?
The EPL has two teams in the last eight. :Last year, they had two. The year before that, also two
Spain has had about the same, one more this year.
Itlay and Germany, same – maybe one less here and there.
