4 Premier Leagues, 1 Champions League, crucial player in all of these, player of the season in 2021. Looked unstoppable.

What's happened? I know he was injured not that long ago, is he playing injured? That's the most logical explanation. Gvardiol and Dias get injured, Dias gets rushed back because he's been crucial for Guardiola all these years and he's one of the captains.

He's still young, he should be peaking now.

  1. Teams are breaking on us with pace and that doesn’t play to his strengths.his strengths are organising the back 4, defensive headers and tackling in. 1 v1 where the ball is in front of him.

The whole team being bad allows teams to get in behind which makes him look bad

  2. It’s the season from last year that still took a toll on some of the legends in this team… We are doing better than last year’s slump. However, it’s hard to repeat the form of a treble again. We still have the Fa cup games to go and I believe we can reach the finals. It’s all about seeing who can make it in the long run until end of season. He is a good player and provides defensive attributes and depth with us. Nothing is wrong with him… but it’s just a small continuation of last season.. ending of it anyways. A rebuild that takes a while. For sure, we can win something next year… like Pep said in his interview

Injured?? He’s been in physical and technical decline for almost 3 years and he’s always been hot and cold.

  4. I think I’m definitely in the minority when i say i have never actually rated him that highly. I think he has flattered to deceive over recent years because we used to dominate so much that we didn’t get threatened too often at the back and I think the pace of Kyle Walker saved him on many occasions. I always thought Akanji was the better of the two.

  5. He’s slow like Rodri and Bernardo. MC has to be the slowest team up the middle that made the quarterfinals. Madrid always has beat us when they exploit their speed on the counter.

I think the possession style game of our kind of impacted negatively on the aggressiveness of players individually. Earlier we didn’t play his high line or we played better as a team. Currently only Khusa can track back and that’s the kind of defenders that excel these days.

  7. Oh my god.. like these new gen kids just started watching Pep-ball like yesterday? This is same as Pep’s first season (and 24-25) where a shitty non-existent, press-averse midfield is pulling the defence up the pitch and stretched across the pitch leaving huge gaps between and behind the lines..

Stop this Pep out, Bernardo out, Dias out nonsense.. without them we will be sitting ducks next season (irrespective they play or not)

Honestly this was bound to happen. Others have caught up and found a way to get at us. We need to have faster counter attacks. Our midfield is really slow, none of them are winning a football race.

  9. what the hell is this agenda, he’s slower so when we play against a pacey team with our highline Iy
it might not suit him to go the whole 90 he’s been very solid this season and people still focus on him as a negative

We’re playing a high line with pressing that we cant maintain for 90 minutes, and a midfield that cant cover the spaces. Unless you have express pace – which he hasnt ever had – you’re going to look worse in this set-up.

  11. As much as I love him, I think he is one of our most lacking defenders, as footballers I think khus, guehi, gvardiol, stones as well in my opinion offer so much more.

  12. Got Dunked on by Rodrygo in ’22 and Valverde a week ago, after his recent injuries and given the way teams set up over the last 18 months against us its clear he isn’t at starting level and THAT’S OKAY(gvardiol khusa guehi should all be starting ahead of him).
He was poty and was a treble team starter in my books he’s repaid his transfer fee.

  13. Our tactics and football evolved beyond his abilities, we play an extremely high line which means we mostly defend counters, and Dias isn’t the best defender to deal with these, he’s still a class player and we see it every time the opposition sits there trying to find space instead of counter attacking, that’s where his thrives. + an absent midfield defensively, he’s always exposed which makes his mistakes more visible.

When this team matures and our football becomes more stable and balanced, we’ll see the Dias we knew.
