  1. Kasper Schmeichel told @CBSSportsGolazo that he got word from a specialist on Monday he needs multiple surgeries & is facing a year out injured. Says it could be career ending.

I may have been calling him a fat useless bastard a few weeks ago but god I feel terrible for him

  3. Anyone celebrating this can get to fuck. Should he have been playing with it, probably not but the decision should be taken out of his hands.

Another example of Celtic having a complete lack of long term care towards their players when it comes to injuries. Ran Tierney into the ground, continually happy for Kyogo to postpone shoulder surgery and now this.

Given those injuries gotta ask why our medical team had been allowing him to play.

As much as I’ve slagged him this season that is a brutal set of injuries

  5. Hes no been great for about a year and look the criticism has been deserved… but thats any other goalie in the nancy blip they are getting ten against them every game.. so im no going to hate on the guy gonna say thanks for your service when you were good you were great. All the best.

  6. Malpractice from our staff if we were allowing him to play to the point of physical breakdown AND selecting him when it was clear (I assume) something was off physically

  7. This is a bit of a tough one. It’s unfair on the Celtic squad that Kasper has wanted to crack on recently and has cost us games, and even trophies. But it isn’t just his decision, and I think it’s even wilder that the coaching team, and 3 separate managers now, have continued to play him when he’s clearly been injured for a while. I get from his point of view that he’s right at the end of his career and wants to keep playing, but the whole situation just stinks now that his potential last few appearances have seen him booed out the stadium

This will be one that’s looked back on with disgust I imagine. Feel bad for the guy, what were the medical team thinking

I don’t buy the sob story.

I reckon he’s insisted on playing with the hopes of playing in his final World Cup knowing full well the extent of his injuries, but it’s gotten to the point where his performances have dropped so much he’d risk Denmark’s chances.

I’d even go as far as saying there is some clause in his contract that means he has to play in certain scenarios. Only till recently has he conceded that clause or Celtic have told him to do one.

He was willing to sacrifice Celtic for his own gain. Fuck him.

  10. I think this stems from Rodgers (and possibly Schmeichel himself) rushing him back last season for the cup final. I said at the time that it was Sinisalo’s place to lose, and that he should have been made the number 1 then. Would have given Schmeichel the full summer to recover properly and maybe do what the English teams do and just give him cup/European games.

We properly mismanaged him, and possibly he did also if he pushed to play when it was clear he was injured.

  11. That explains his form this season. Why did they allow him to play with those injuries?

It’s a shame it’s going to end this way, he could’ve left a hero but instead almost leaves a villain and alot of his better performances go unnoticed because of his recent form or mistakes.

Feel sorry for him totally. Its exactly what Joe Hart didn’t want to happen to himself hence why he went when he could’ve played for another year probably.

In hindsight maybe Kasper should’ve done the same but equally we were all happy he extended at the time because he was doing so well for us… football changes fast.. Brilliant keeper and I’m proud hes one of us 🍀💚

  13. I have been very, very vocal about wanting Schmeichel completely away from the club and at times been jokingly toxic about him.

That being said, this situation is awful and a complete failure of the club. To let him continue to play while clearly nursing an injury is unacceptable. He should have taken a step back himself and that mistake has likely ended his career.

    Really sad to see.

I hope he gets well. It must be terrible ending your career on an injury. Glad we have Sinisalo playing well atm.

  15. Shame for him.

This could really highlight a lack of care at Celtic. It happened with Tierney, whose age is physical prime, but his body isn’t. It’s entirely possible Celtic’s persistence with playing him years ago contributed to that.

It was obvious Kasper’s body was wrecked. He wouldn’t commit to things, diving a certain way became difficult for him, and he wouldn’t overextend his arm at times it seemed. Sometimes players need saved from themselves and their own willingness to play.
