Paul Barber says the sports bar at The Amex has proved hugely popular on matchdays, whatever the weather, and there is scope to increase the service.

The club’s deputy chairman and chief executive told the club’s official podcast: “We are going to look to try and expand the footprint of The Terrace.

“Not under the roof, specifically, but in that area so we can offer more food, more drink, more entertainment, more options to sit and watch the big screens on the outside.

“People don’t seem to really care about the weather too much.

“Initially when we opened The Terrace we thought on the days when the weather was a bit rough, we would have to close all the sides in and keep people effectively locked in the building.

“But the feedback has been, ‘Keep the sides open, we don’t care about a bit of rain or a bit of wind, it’s football, that’s what we are here for, we are going to get wet or cold anyway, let’s enjoy the screens and the beer and the food and carry on’.

“That has been music to our ears because it has meant The Terrace has functioned pretty much normally for every game.”

Barber revealed numerous Premier League clubs have visited to see how The Terrace operates.
