  1. Just feels very.. boring?

I am surprised Halkett or Welsh aren’t in over the likes of Hendry or Hyam

More surprised at Ralston too. Why not O’Donnell or even Donovan, who is ahead of him at club level? Watt could’ve been included in the midfield options too.

Nice to see Curtis in. Hirst has been shite in all his Scotland games so far so again, feel like we could’ve tried someone new there.

Would be keen to see Curtis get a run out, looks like he could potentially be a very useful wide player

  3. Biased but says it all when we have nothing new to try before a world cup

This was a chance to chuck Barney Stewart in the mix to see how he gets on for future games. Not just pick the same players as always.

    No future planning at all

How is Hirst still there?. Need a wildcard here. Why not Bowie or even Barney Stewart? And how can Ralston be included over O’Donnell?

The back 5 doesn’t work for us any more so if we’re playing 4 at the back then we need wingers for the 5 midfielders (Christie is not a winger for the record) so I’m pleased to see Curtis in on that basis but almost everyone else is the usual suspects so what is the point of these friendlies if not to try out some players?

Andy Irving has the minutes played of 7 games this season, why is he being called up?

The game against Japan will be my first Scotland game. £45 to see Hirst, Ralston and Irving, I might have made a bad decision.

I was kind of hoping for Barney Stewart to get a call up as he is the most in-form Scottish striker, he is still a bit raw so I get waiting a little bit before calling him up.

Surprised Stephen Welsh didn’t get called up.

Has Findlay Curtis done enough to get called up?

Assuming this is being treated like some sort of practice for the whelming.

  9. Glad to see Curtis included and given Clarke’s mantra I’m not surprised to see most of the same faces.

My only hope is that he actually gives some minutes to other players.

Actually glad none of Hearts players have been picked. Might mean they up their game to get in squad at end of season. Also avoid possible injuries/distractions.

Findlay Curtis but no Barney Stewart? Getting him involved is a no-brainer. Rancid stuff from Steve yet again.

Ralston would be Celtic’s 4th choice right back if Johnston was fit ffs.

Hanley has been injured last 6 for Hibs, and has let Scotland down lots.

Jack Hendry is utter shite, as is Souttar, Hirst, and Dykes.

Get Halkett, Graham and Stewart in for a start. Milne deserves a call up but I sympathise with Tierney and Robbo being there.

A middle finger to a lot of players from the manager.

  13. I would love to have Anthony Ralston’s job security. Accidentally stumble into doing well for a short spell in 2021/22 and live off it the rest of your career.

  14. People laughed at me in the thread when I suggested Curtis going to Killie and getting game time would get him a shout for the world cup squad as the backup to Gannon-Doak yet here we are.

But surprised not to see SOD in ahead of Ralston given he’s effectively 4th choice right back for Celtic now but I suppose Clarke always has his favourites.

If I was halkett I’d be absolutely seething, been the best performing center back in Scotland this season yet can’t even get in the squad over hendry, hyam and Hanley…

Hyam is a decent mid table championship center back, has very little experience with the Scotland squad.

    Hendry is shite.

Hanley is getting some consistency but is still prone to howlers and is 50/50 at best when playing for Scotland.

To play your best football and outperform your peers while the spot is up for grabs and not make the squad is a kick in the teeth for him.

Scott Bain is gonna be in goals for the world cup isnt he ? He is the only GK currently getting regular first team football

  17. Hirst and Conway both play for good EFL Championship teams but are doing shite, meanwhile McBurnie who’s joint top of G/A stats in the same league doesn’t get a sniff.

  18. A perfect time to experiment with the squad before the world cup prior to all our key players getting injured as usual, and this is what Clarke has conjured up.

Why no Harry Milne, Craig Halkett, Calvin Miller, Barney Stewart, Stephen Welsh, Elliot Watt, Luke Graham, and even at a stretch SOD?

  19. There simply must be a better choice out there than Ralston, he’s like 3rd choice so rarely plays and is quite below average. I can only imagine it’s because he plays for Celtic as if he was ST mirrens or Livis starting RB he’s never getting picked is he?

  20. MarlythAvantguarddog on

Clarke really doesn’t try new things does he? One reason why he feels jaded.

  21. Scott Bain could have potentially played the greatest master stroke. Earn money and rest for a few years then move and play one year and start at the WC. Craig Gordon should have went on loan, i know he is injured now, but in a WC season to sit on the bench🤦🏻‍♂️!!!
