So Leigh Griffiths and two others have an arrest warrant issued for alleged match fixing.

Excuse my ignorance, this might sound like a dumb question. But how is it possible for an outfield player to 'fix a match?' – I mean from a technical point of view.

Surely only a goalkeeper and/or referee would have the ability to do that?

Match fixing rarely has to do with fixing the outcome of a match. It’s usually stuff like player X will get a yellow card before minute y, that type of stuff.

  2. First foul, first throw in etc.

Le Tissier did it for Southampton years ago when he went to boot the ball out of play from kickoff but it took a bobble when it got rolled back to him so it didn’t have a clean contract and didn’t go out of play. He was running around like a maniac for a minute after that trying to get the ball out for a throw in.
