Cor the failure of so many British clubs being through to the knockout phase. Oh and a struggling Newcastle making the team comfortably top of La Liga look bang average.
Can spin this any way you want, clickbait “journalism” is so boring. About a month ago the same shitty sites were saying “WHY ENGLISH TEAMS CAN AFFORD TO WASTE MONEY AND STILL DOMINATE IN EUROPE”.
Why are you sharing this tosh?

The moment guardiola decided to park the bus against arsenal….that changed the rest of how teams play! No one questions him but pundits and rivals have simply gone after arsenal and why they can’t break down defensive teams low blocks!

9 teams still in Europe at this stage.. that’s almost half the league.

Can we wait until next week, when they all play at home, before writing off English teams in the champions League???

Horncastle by name. Horny for any chance to dump on the Premier League by nature. I get the feeling this one has neen written for a while now.
I mean, there’s still the 2nd legs to play. And no one would have predicted Newcastle, Tottenham or Chelsea to realistically go through. Arsenal and Liverpool are very much in it. Its only City of the ‘favourites’ (and its still Real Madrid, its not a minnow) who got blown away, and it’s not like they dont have form being bested in the UCL knockouts.
The sad thing is, the metrics he uses for his argument that the Prem is wasting its money (ie: this season only, whilst disregarding English teams performance over the 5-10 years) arent the same metrics he recently used to justify why his beloved Serie A isnt a poor as people seem to think it is (ie he used the previous few years performance, not just this season, when serie a teams had a shocker).

‘The failure of English clubs in Europe’
Two of the Champions League games were a draw, and Liverpool are very much still in their tie with only a goal deficit before going back to Anfield, some people need to calm down!

PSG and Real Madrid are the two previous champions of Europe. Liverpool and Arsenal are just fine. Spurs are in turmoil, sure, but that’s not indicative of a league wide problem. Stupid article

Italy have one team who got spanked, two who played one another and a final team who struggled against a team who their fans would struggle to find on a map.
Spain and Germany also had teams who lost.
Half the premier league made it to the last 16 stage of Europe.
If this is a struggle then i give up. It’s possible we could have six in the champions league again next year (fifth spot and villa or forest winning europa league and not making it automatically)…seven is possible if second tier spurs win the champions league

PSG literally had Ligue 1 games postponed the year they won the UCL, a league where they’ve won plenty of matches with their kids.
Premier League clubs get nothing. Zilch. Zero rest. It’s not just Manchester City… it’s Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Newcastle etc etc.

At least wait until the end of the 2nd leg to write this nonsense. We’ve seen crazy things happen every season without fail in these games, the kneejerk reaction from 1st leg games is absolutely moronic.

This whole narrative is so dramatic.
