So I’ve been working with a local (to me) hip-hop crew called The Parish Council, who have a keen interest in all things Forest via their chairman Grandmaster Rupert, a long-time supporter and My Forest member.

They’ve been putting together a project documenting “important parish matters” across Northamptonshire — pubs, potholes, village rivalries, canal towpaths, the usual — and naturally that eventually led to a track about making the trip up to the City Ground on a cold midweek night.

The result is their first release: “Blind Optimism (Mist From The Trent)”, from their forthcoming EP Optimism Under Review.

It’s basically a boom-bap hip-hop record about the familiar Forest experience: heading north full of belief, standing in the Trent End mist under the floodlights, and convincing yourself that this might finally be the night everything comes together.

Anyway, I thought some of you might appreciate it.

Let me know what you think.
