**£138m Sancho bill**
Jadon Sancho will be a notable absentee when Villa visit on Sunday, with the on-loan United winger ineligible for the game against his parent club.
Sancho will say goodbye to United when his contract runs out on June 30 at the end of what has been a very costly move for the club since they signed him from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021 – at the time making him the second-most expensive English player in history behind Maguire.
As well as the £73million transfer fee, a five-year contract worth £250,000-a-week means that United have committed £138m to signing Sancho. Speaking a year ago today, Sir Jim Ratcliffe revealed that the club still had to pay the final £17m instalment of his transfer fee to Dortmund last summer.
United have been able to recoup some of the money spent on Sancho since he fell out with manager Erik ten Hag in summer 2023, effectively signaling the start of the end of his United career.
Dortmund paid a £3m loan fee rising to a maximum of £6.5m based on appearances and the team’s success, as well as covering most of his wages, in January 2024.
Chelsea paid half of his wages for last season’s loan and a £5m penalty last summer rather than the £20-25m obligation to buy him when the Blues finished in the top 14 of the Premier League. And Villa paid a loan fee and 80 per cent of his wages this season for his third loan.
For their £138m, United have seen Sancho play more times for other clubs than themselves since he joined five years ago. The 25-year-old has 12 goals and six assists in 83 appearances for United, and nine goals and 14 assists in 90 games on loan.
The injuries are infuriating they report them like it’s a knock and they’ll be out for a few days…..then we don’t see them for months
What injury does de ligt have?
Why does our entire squad return 4-6 weeks after we expect them too.
Only Bruno returned sooner on what looked to be a hamstring or calf issue. That same injury would take out de ligt 6 months to return
😂😂 Him and mason mount , two peas of the same pod
Come the fuck on man

well, it’s a good thing we know. hopefully heaven gets gametime. I think harry should go back to rcb and let heaven handle lcb
And even after all this we still don’t know what is wrong with Mount. People have half forgotten he still plays for this club.
‘Longer than initially hoped’
What a fucking surprise with this club.
To be honest I didn’t think he would be available for this game anyway
similar to mount, their ability is irrelevant because neither of them can stay fit
> Martinez was only expected to miss one game
Expected by whom?
In theory, we’ve got a veteran CB, two youngsters, and two prime age CBs. Perfect.
In practice, we’ve got a veteran CB, two youngsters, the end.
Sigh.
We have to move on from this man. He seems like an Italian league player.
classic
See you next season Licha, good luck at the world cup.
Also, are the doctors just giving estimates based on hopes and positive vibes or what? Mason mount was supposed to be ready a million years ago. De Ligt has gone dark. Now Licha who was barely going to miss a game, is ruled out for villa and then probably some more.
We cannot simply go to next season with him in mind , a starting cb is must. How things are going if we get ucl ,we seriously need 7-8 players period.
I think it’s time to move on from Martinez and Mount.
Sell them in the summer, they can go to less physical leagues for their own benefit to stay fit.
We need more consistent players.
Well, that sucks. Him and Maguire are key to keeping the ball moving forwards. When there are other pairs at the back, they tend to start recycling the ball backwards to the goalkeeper or playing lateral balls to the fullbacks. Martinez and Maguire are better on the ball and are willing to play direct balls forwards and take more risks when the ball is at their feet. Others do not do so. They are critical to United constantly starting attacks and keeping the tempo up throughout the whole game.
So this will be a major miss, as we are likely to have more of the ball in the Villa game, and Villa will probably be looking to hit us on the counter-attack.
Our buildup is nothing without Lisandro
I don’t think we see him in Leeds game as well
April it’s is then .
Lets be honest, I love the butcher but you can’t build a reliable defence on de ligt, slab, martinez and shaw and then dalot where injuries arent his issue.
Martinez is far too injury prone he needs to be sold
Bro has missed more games than he has played.
Do we sell him in the summer?
He’s top when he’s fit. But we can’t have players who play less than half the games. He’s missed almost 600 days since joining
What the hell is wrong 😫😫😫. It was just 1 precautionary match…
We need to replace Licha, Mount, Shaw, De Ligt asap
Sign Murillo.

At some point you have to wonder whether the club is lying about injuries rather than just being incompetent at assessing them.
Needs getting binned
I get Martinez is a great player, but he’s barely ever available. I’d rather sell him in the summer and get someone more durable, even if they’re slightly lower quality.
Why dont we just report each injury as 3 months out?
That way if it takes 2 months to recover, we’ll be pleasantly surprised
