Dembélé’s Ballon d’Or is legit — he was the best in his specific season.
But compared historically, yes, the bar was much lower. If the same standard applied in the past, then Hazard, Salah, Van Dijk, Sneijder, Ribéry, Lewandowski would all have a Ballon d’Or on their shelf.
Xavi, Iniesta, Henry, Lewandowski especially and others not winning it, this award has lost prestige in my eyes.

I think awards should be by specific positions as football is a team sport. Ronaldo and Messi won because they played in ultra talented teams

So happy for Ousmane, the twists and turns his career took, the challenges and injuries, make it all the better to see reach the top. A fabulous player finally achieving the full measure of his talent, but also (and maybe more importantly) a genuinely nice guy, that everyone seems to appreciate and respect.
The most deserved ballon d’or for a while. A forward that play for the team and the first defender of the team. They won everything as a team with him as the symbol.
It’s good exemple for all player that team is more important than personal statistics.
I knew something was wrong about the award when it was snatched from Samuel Eto’o twice. For Dembele to win not even his well deserved 7th position says a lot about the French and FIFA mafia. They want to boost the French league but it won’t work.

Dembele was our worst player during 2022 world cup. He was useless on the right wing during the entier tournement. This year he played good for 3 months.
