MARCA is such a bad source that I won’t even give it a tier
He apparently wanted out for years but didn’t force the move when teams (AKA Barca) tried lowballing us and has been nothing but a complete professional the entire time. Underrated by many in terms of ability, there was a period where he was amongst the best in the world in his position but also his importance to the squad and how he could be trusted to go do a job anywhere on the pitch if required.
I won’t begrudge him seeking elsewhere once the contract is up and I’ll especially miss how he boils the piss of rival fans.
lowkey he’s a good fit for barca’s flick system but like, 5 years ago. his legs are not what it used to be although he still has the mentality.
but i swear he said he wanted to finish his career at benfica, i think he’ll go there instead after the world cup. assuming Portugal wins the World Cup (no guarantees), what much else is there to do in his footballing career?
