  1. Ngl Shaw is a starting CB for me in the long term. He's impressed so much and there's a lack of quality left footed CBs in the market. I wanted Gvardiol and badiashiele before they made their name/ went to Chelsea. But I have faith in shaw if he keeps concentration long term. Moreover this will allow A.Fernandez to come through at left back.

  2. I’m glad you put a disclaimer cos I know if you had recorded the video after the derby, it’d be a whole different conversation

  3. Casemiro gets booked against Palace game hes misses the Arsenal game, keep shaw at CB and start martinez in Central Midfield to give Casemiro the night off…. or it's start mctominay in midfield

  4. I definitely like this idea but I think he can be a cry good backup CB to Martinez whilst simultaneously seeing Martinez as a backup CDM to Casemiro especially in so-called easy matches. Next season we can have Shaw/Malacia/Fernandez for LB spots.
The team doesn't necessarily need world-class players in every position especially with our useless owners.

  5. shaw was also a good option for the city game, as his physique is much better than martinez or maguire which is heavily required to defend / mark a giant striker like haaland

  6. It's because he sometimes lacks defensive awareness since he offends so much on the wing. As a centre back, he won't get caught out because he's quite literally the last line of defence. The other reason is because he's left footed. ten Hag likes that balance. Also, The Butcher is not available for the first leg against Barcelona and so far Shaw has looked great deputising.

  7. Aside from injuries and occasionally caught asleep, the problem with Shaw is that it seems he doesn't care if his ass isn't on fire. Since signing for United he's shown glimpses of being a top left back but was never really consistent when given a run of games. He got good when Telles was signed, someone who he though had the potential to displace him in the starting 11, but then became crap again when he realised Telles wasn't good enough. This season Shaw started slow but then after Malacia was played a few games and showed genuine quality, Shaw suddenly became good.

Hopefully with Malacia around Shaw will continue to feel he has to prove himself. Their age gap is such that by the time Shaw begins to decline Malacia can take over, issue is if Malacia wants to continue playing second fiddle for long.

Lastly, how do you think show would do as an inverted right back?

  8. We have a quality stopper CB to pair with Shaw: his name is Eric Bailly. He's the only one that hasn't tasted ten Hag's coaching and management- and he looked really good in preseason.

  9. The ability of ETH to coach players is amazing.
Nobody would believe CB can be short and Ten Hag has changed this perspective.
Look at AWB in the Man City game.
To me, Play of the Game in that 1 minute and would have been perfect if AWB scored at the end of that sequence of play.
Imagine what he can do long term for the young'uns.
Garnacho, Iqbal, Kobee Mainoo etc are in easily , the best hands possible to be future world class players.
Ten Hag is doing things to resurrect players careers who everyone had written off.

  10. 8:48 You mention Jurrien Timber, ETH use Timber and Lisandro as the pairing CB in Ajax…
Now I'm wondering whether you think AWB could played as RCB? He definitely had the Pace, Athleticism and Defending ability…

Maybe a comparison video? Thank you

  11. crazy how maguire and shaw are crucial for england team but in united ten hag just doesn't like maguire in his team. I believe we have to sell maguire and use the money to buy a new young striker next summer.

  12. Can’t u guys see without the presence of Martinez they can’t play from the back.with Martinez presence Luke Shaw always has the advantage of going forward in the opposition box because Martinez will cover for him.

  13. Can’t wait for Shaw to perform amazingly at cb vs Barca inna first leg of UEL next month wit Licha out
ETH thought so far ahead and looks like we’ll be well covered and wouldn’t need to worry wen that tie arrives 🙌🏾🙌🏾❤️

  14. Ten Hag will always choose on the ball ability over size and strength. Luke Shaw is a much better footballer than Maguire and with help from Varane and Casemiro he's easily adapted to CB. Don't be surprised if united sell maguire and sign Timber in the summer

  15. Why hasn't any coach thought of this? It shows imagination coz if Ole was to use his imagination he would have tried Shaw as a goal keeper and Maguire as a winger

  16. You can't take his statistics from LB where his role and expectations are completely different and make assumptions about how he'll do in those departments as a CB. Anyway, I still don't think Luke shaw is being used as CB permanently, just till Lisandro plays himself back in.

  17. The most obvious reason is him being left footed. A left footed lcb is just naturally more comfortable at that position. They tend to receive and move the ball toward the throwing side instead of towards the center at defence
