Albion fans were in good voice as their side took on Arsenal.

And it was not all positive as the Gunners ground out a stop-start 1-0 win.

Fans let their feelings known in an ugly contest which saw the Seagulls push the leaders to the limit but fail to take any of the few chances that came their way.

Fabian Hurzeler had mentioned, albeit briefly, that Arsenal can take their time over taking corners ahead of the match.

And the home crowd latched on to it as Arsenal were given exactly what they wanted with an early lead.

The game was preceded by an inter-active light show as a glorious springtime day turned into a fresh and clear evening.

Bukayo Saka scored the precious winner early in the game, after Carlos Baleba had failed to take an excellent chance to put the hosts in front.

Albion felt they might have had a penalty right on half-time as Mats Wieffer tangled with Gabriel Marinelli.

David Raya later made a decent save low to his right from Georginio Rutter and Wieffer and Jack Hinshelwood were unable to convert headed chances.
