In the interest of balance, considering as soon as we lose there is a barrage of Howe out chat, I hope we can take a moment to realise that maybe, just maybe, Eddie knows what he is doing and is the right man for the job. A lot of good management, team picks and in-game decisions on show yesterday. Yes, it’s frustrating being a Newcastle fan sometimes but do we really have such short memories? I don’t think there is anyone out there right now that is better suited for the job. I get the feeling that most genuine fans have the same opinion, especially the ones in the stadium, but the online ones are the most destabilising. Back the boys, have faith in Eddie and HTFL!!

Agree, was discussing the number of strikers we missed out on just yesterday . They are identifying and going after good players, they just don’t want to come here due to location, wages or perceived size of the club, and no manager in the world can change any of those.

Eddie is doing a great job.

Win 1 game in 4 at home, and 2 in 8 with 5 of those being losses and the sub Reddit gets flooded with low effort posts like this.

Both sides of this In/Out argument are stupid and make me dislike both the happy clappers like this and the Howe Out posts. They flood the sub Reddit when we should be buzzing about a home win vs Salford reds.

The stats this season are fucking shocking and one win doesn’t instantly turn us around; our next home games the derby, and in a week we might be out of all competitions (which the good cup runs have been masking out shocking premier league form) so maybe save any gloating comments like this till after then too. As you’ll see a lot worse said if we lose that (and personally I think that would be a massive issue for me if he goes on to lose twice to a newly promoted Sunderland with a low effort performance like we had at their place).

And mods please can we just get a thread where these in out in out posts can all live so the majority of fans don’t have to see them after every game.

  3. Let’s be very honest about these ‘in/out’ haters – I’m almost sure that you are not the only ones who hate it! Both those in the out camp and those in the in camp are also sick of these in / out ‘discussions’ but lets not for a minute think that 1 is not purely in response to the other! Frustrated, angry, disillusioned at times…yes of course… but the stupidly and IMHO lazy / slack-heeded go-to of Howe Out – he has no idea, we need Thomas, Richard or ‘Arry “to give it a try” needs balancing out…unfortunately *(vote down all you like)*. Only one side is responsible, the others respond!

I’m team “Howe stays unless he loses the dressing room or holds us back in the transfer market”, but if I was “Howe out” then I definitely wouldn’t be swayed by one result.

  5. There’s going to be a post like this every time we win or lose isn’t there

  6. LibrarianOrdinary596 on

I agree. It hasn’t been the best of seasons and the football has not been good to watch, but we all know the circumstances around that (transfers, squad not deep enough, fighting on too many fronts) and Eddie will know all that the performances haven’t been good enough. I have faith in him to build on next season – if he’s backed in the summer.

Howe is doing an incredible job and I say it when we win and I say it when we lose.

It’s ok to be upset when we lose and it’s ok to speculate on what you think we should have done differently. But if you’ve called for Howe out at any point, shame on you.

  8. So if he wins one game, loses 5 then wins 1 again, you always get a thread like yours pop up lol.

    Goes both ways.

  9. Not Howe out but Gordon upfront still doesn’t work.

When joelinton has a good game the team plays so much better.

  10. the_unique_noob on

Anyone who thinks Howe deserves to go is a shallow fan. After winning a trophy and bringing us back to champions league football, our squad has effectively gotten worse and we still don’t have a striker!

Howe was probably the only champions league manager in England who was screwed over in the summer. Wilson wanted too much money and left for West Ham. So we tried to replace him with Ekitike. Last minute, Liverpool swoop in and take him. So then we try to sign Sesko and/or Larson who both say no. So we’re left with going for Wissa, who at best has one or two years left in him, and turns up unfit and needs months before he can play. Oh, and great news howe, Isak is now refusing to play as he wants to sign for a massive rival club. Looks like we’re starting the season with no striker! Good luck. In the meantime, we’ll try Woltemade.

Woltemade is good, but he’s nothing compared to what Isak gave us. Wissa is like another Wilson.

I don’t see how anyone could come in and do a better job from a team with no striker. We were in 4 competitions in February for the first time in 40 years!

  11. The supposed fans in here saying this season’s not been good enough. Check your heads. We’ve gone to the semis of the Carabao, still in FA Cup and last 16 of UCL !!! All with a bit part starting 11.

Jesus we’ve won 1 trophy in 70 years, what are you all expecting from Eddie? If we string a few league results together, we’ll get European football next season.

  12. Few-Relative1828 on

For the inteterest of balance, I’m Howe in until we qualify for Europe next season, then use that as an opportunity to mutual part ways and find a manager who has a track record of performing with the commitments of Europe (which Howe doesn’t have unfortunately).

This season, Howe’s decision-making and tactical display has crossed too many lines for me, and one good performance in ten matches isn’t enough to change my mind.

Why not sack him this summer?

    1) The club should have a Newcastle United transfer window this summer, not an Eddie/Andy Howe window. Buying players that will be the future of the club (e.g. the ones winning the league in 2030 lol), technical and physical footballers with high footballing IQ.

    2) Next season, without Europe, we will need a coach, and Eddie is for all intents and purposes a great coach. Get the team back to playing a good style with the new additions given to him buy the club.

    3) Without Europe, we’re unlikely to attract the calibre of manager or player needed to take us to the next level, so we give Eddie one more season to see if he can get us into Europe, then move him on.

    4) It gives us a year to lay the foundations with top managers, some who probably already are in a job already, wining and dining them with the promise they’ll take over next summer.

Do I have confidence the club will do that? No.

Do I think we’ll be 13th in the league in two years, losing to Brentford at home then smashing Juventus in the Europa League under Eddie Howe? Yes.

  13. LintonSDawson on

Ugh! This again. Let’s just take the W and look to the next match. We’re taking this season match-by-match. No guarantee for the future. Howe is not getting fired this season. He likely has another year already in the books. If that goes south, there might be a reason for the board to sack him. He is clearly struggling to string together a decisive winning run this season and he has been open about some of the struggles in that regard. He also doesn’t have the all the answers right now. Many of the issues are not directly under his control either.

Eddie is not a vampire who will be doing the same thing for eternity. One day he will move on and we should as well. But this ridiculous in/out discussion needs to stop. There’s no point to this. It’s boring and extremely predictable.

  14. Think people need to take the rose tinted Carabao glasses off now, this seasons been awful. All you need to do is look at points dropped from winning positions to tell you all you need to know. I’m not strictly Howe in and I’m not strictly Howe out but people who can’t see how shit this seasons been need a wake up call.

  15. I’m sick of this sort of chat, he won’t be going anywhere till the end of the season when the owners will decide, winning against man United does not make up for a shit season, have you forgotten the Everton game already 😂 No Europe will cost Eddie his job, unless by some miracle we win the FA cup, I think this is the end of Eddie.

Just when I thought I was “Howe Out” they pull me back to “Howe In”

    1. Isak shafted us, which already set us back massively before the season started.

    2. Aside from Thiaw, every signing has had an objectively worse season with us than they did at their previous clubs. We brought those players based on their performances and they just haven’t delivered.

    3. Wissa and Ramsey both got injured within weeks of joining, which set their introduction to the team back by months.

    4. Both of our full backs have been out for pretty much the whole season.

    5. Gordon, who was one of our better players went on a run of not scoring from open play.

    6. The stupidly congested fixture list combined with injuries to half the starting 11 has made it so we can’t rotate. We are playing clubs who have had 7 days of rest when we have only had 3… every week.

    7. Clubs who don’t have 500m+ benches almost always do worse in the league during a European season.

    8. Bruno, our best player, got a long term injury just after we started to come good and at the start of our hardest run of fixtures

    9. We have dropped at least 9 points through Pope and Trippiers mistakes combined.

    10. Seeing as Wolte is a number 10, Gordon a winger and Wissa is shite and/or always injured, we ha e played an entire season without a number 9.

    11. At LEAST 4 points dropped by dodgy VAR and refs, probably more.

I’m not saying Howe has had a good seasons by any means, this is objectively his worst unless we win the FA Cup or Champions League (Which we will), but this is miles away from a stackable offence.

We have been extremely unlucky this season and without the injuries I reckon we would be top 5 right now, easily.

  18. Naive_Statement_535 on

I wouldnt mind a new manager if it was someone like Tuchel or Poch but I know they are both unlikely with tuchel new contract and poch to spurs

  19. Fishfingerrosti on

Howe in, Howe out, shake it all about. You do the Howeky kokey and you turn around.

  20. So W aside. I think it will be Howe actually out if the following happens. Not that I want him out.

We get knocked out of each tournament outside the prem and then go on to lose to Sunderland at St James.

  21. The people bitching about ‘Howe out’ are so much more annoying than the 4 people who are ‘howe out’.

There is so much more bitching from them.

  22. Pure-Somewhere8034 on

You guys dont realise what he’s done for us. Got to give him the respect of more time.

  23. Oh FFS. There is such a thing as nuance.
I’m not Howe out, I want him to turn it round and succeed.
Am I happy with the win? Yes.
Did we need a win? Also yes.
Are there deeper problems at the club? Yes.
Should Howe be given time to improve? Yes.

We’ve been poor in the league. We still look like we can’t score goals.l or keep clean sheets.
It’s okay to have opinions that differ.

  24. He’s the right man we need. We just need a bigger squad that’s all. If the summer didn’t get fucked cos of the isak stuff and losing those main targets to bigger teams we could have been flying. Trust the process, success isn’t linear it’s up and down
