this guy is an absolute beast.
During academy days, he scores 280 goals of the 286 games he played. That means he averaged 0.98 goals per game as a defensive midfielder, which usually is more than any average striker.
Not only that, he is 6'4 which equals haaland in terms of height. He is also physically strong asf and has a solid ball control and can literally take shots and put them inside box almost from everywhere (his academy days clips). He can literally hold off defenders and also has excellent aerial ability. La Masia coaches glaze alot about his goal hunting instinct. He reminds me somewhere of thomas muller.
Even yesterday Bernal was proven more useful in attack than ferran, fermin and olmo who were supposed to be threats for atletico. He links up greatly with wingers and pedri, which lewa and ferran just can't these days.
Not to mention, he's got that aura in him.

Flick try him instead of getting the 2.0 version of ferran, vlahovic 😭🙏
Someone said that he used to be a striker in the youth academy
Apparently he was an attacking midfielder in the academy
We honestly should try something new in the attack instead of letting ferran miss chances over and over again.
I love this guy, I now realize why Flick was extremely sad when he got injured last season. Flick deserves everything man… he came and instantly recognized La Masia talents, give this man his signings and he’s getting us a UCL
Raised as a 10 not a 9, he’s your hybrid #8/#6 who can crash in the box, large space covering with his long legs
Just because he’s big and scored a few goals recently doesn’t mean he will instantly become a top striker. He was never a 9 even in youth before anyone pulls that out their behind. He’s a complete midfielder all around and sticking him at cb or st whichever end you lose what makes him special. He offers aerial control, progression from deep, distance shot creation/taking, press resistance, duel winning as well as his ability to finish. It’s best to leave him where he is and where he has the most freedom to get the best out of him. He will be stifled if you move him out of midfield and you won’t get a video game type of transition instead it’ll be awkward and innefective. Also that would currently leave us with just Casado as our only true DM outside of Pedri who would still probably sit on the bench behind Olmo and would mean Fermin in the 10 since Gavi and De Jong are not available… the only remaining midfielder we’ve seen is Tommy and I’m not sold on him whatsoever.
Jokes apart, Ferran is not working. Idfk make Raphinha a striker just do anything that involves Ferran not being a starter
This sub convinced me Ferran is a great striker tho.
He played the same position where casssado played last time. Cassado got substituted at 30 mins and bernal got 2 goals. I think we will see less of cassado in upcoming weeks
Something doesnt add up here , 0.98 as a defensive midfielder ?
Ferran as a super sub was always the idea, as we have seen him pull insane comebacks off the bench. It just shows how much we need a striker.
Even Araujo is a better striker than Ferran clown
He genuinely has great attacking instincts. Would like to see a Frenkie-Pedri pivot with this guy taking on an offensive role in a game
