Not only NUFC related but given the backlash I've gotten from the previous post, I want to make sure everybody understands xGOT – xG and that even Haaland can be a bad finisher
How is this measured?
This ranking uses Finishing Impact per Shot, calculated as:
(xGOT − xG) / number of shots
• xG (Expected Goals) measures the quality of chances a player gets.
• xGOT (Expected Goals on Target) measures the quality of the shot after it’s taken — accounting for placement and power.
👉 The difference (xGOT − xG) shows how much a player improves or reduces the value of their chances through shot execution.
Dividing by total shots gives us a per-shot impact, removing volume bias.
How to interpret it:
• Positive value → Player increases the value of their shots (strong finishing execution).
• Negative value → Player reduces the value of their shots (underperforming shot execution).
This does NOT measure overall quality as a striker —
it isolates how well each player executes their shots relative to the chances they get.
