Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres was involved in the team’s frank debrief last week after their draw at Wolves and accepts if “you’re not honest, it’s hard to improve” as he urged his team-mates to “let it all out”.
Declan Rice revealed that the players had come together in light of the 2-2 draw at Molineux, a game in which the Gunners led 2-0 and then conceded in stoppage time. It was the first time in Premier League history that the team top of the table and squandered a two-goal lead to a team in the bottom three.
It also opened the door for Manchester City, who can close the gap when their opportunity arises. Arsenal respond impressively to their draw with a thumping 4-1 win at Tottenham on Sunday.
Gyokeres was on hand to score twice, both of his goals showing a touch of class, and he has backed the need to have honest conversations if they are to get over the line this season.
He said: “It’s important sometimes just to say what you feel and to let it all out in the group. Most of us spoke. Everyone can recognise how different people feel in the moment and you get a better understanding of the feeling.

“When you speak in the group openly like that, you come closer together and it’s very important to do that sometimes. If you’re not honest, I think it’s hard to improve. It was a good chat, we certainly enjoyed today, and now we’re going to prepare for a big game against Chelsea next weekend.”
Gyokeres produced arguably his best game in an Arsenal shirt with his two-goal display. His first of the afternoon coming just after half-time, when the Gunners were looking to put themselves ahead once again. The Swede has been criticised for much of his debut campaign, but showcased why Arsenal spent big to land him in the summer.

Viktor Gyokeres put in his best performance in an Arsenal shirt
Mikel Arteta hailed how his players were able to park their Wolves disappointment with such a clinical performance, owing to their internal discussions.
He said: “I am very, very proud and very happy, not for today, but what happened in the last three days because we said: OK, let’s love the players when they need it the most. But as well, sometimes the coaches and the staff, we need some love as well.
“We need some people around them with positivity, drive and who stand up next to you when we need them. And it’s been really, really good to work with them in the last few days.”
